Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of 5.0 Megapixel USB PC Webcam Camera for PC Laptop NotebooCustomer Review: Porblems when used with XP and type 1 USB port Summary: 1 Stars
My System which is a Windows XP system, using a type 1 USB port, will not boot with this web camera connected. It locks up on the opening windows screen, and requires a full hard reboot to recover. This is before any application software even loads as best as I can tell.
If I plug the camera in after my computer boots, it works fine until I boot again. Then I have the same problem. The picture quality is not bad.
I do at times run other USB hardware, printer, scanner, regular digital camera, and a digital RF recorder with no problems. None of this hardware was coneected while I was experiencing the problem.
My other primary complaint is that it comes with no documentation or tech support, so when one has a problem like this, you're basicaly on your own.
Obviously it works well for some folks based on othr reviews, but not for me.
Customer Review: Absolutely Amazing! Summary: 5 Stars
I was basically sold when I saw the video review above, and I can tell you that it's every bit as good as he says.
This webcam is great quality for the price. (really, it is ONLY six dollars) In the best of lighting it runs very smoothly at 25 fps, and even at night with relatively little lighting it will still run at 9-10 fps with decent video quality. (I would always recommend having a separate light source, not the LED's on the camera as they don't do much to quality and mostly just wash out your face)
It's installation on my windows XP computer was nonexistant - I literally just plugged it in and tada! No driver installation or anything.
I am very very happy with this webcam, it feels solid enough, and works flawlessly. The only question is durability, but I don't plan on abusing it anytime soon, so hopefully that won't become a factor ;)
Customer Review: awesome Summary: 5 Stars
This cam is excellent. worth so much more than the sell price. It is 5 MP. do not believe when others say it is not. with the native driver you get about 3 MP but when you get the real driver It is 5 MP. you can zoom and pan it left right up and down. the picture is the best I have ever seen. you can change the white balance and color Gama settings. I do not recommend using the built in light at all. it will make your face blue like a smurf (unless you want that lol) and it will blind you after a few minutes. you will have the led lights stuck in your vision for a while after. not the best feature. the dimmer dial is not calibrated right. it is very hard to adjust it if you do not want the full brightness. But all in all this is a great buy. the cam adjusts well to different lighting as well as outdoor and indoor light sources. I give it an A+
Customer Review: grat little product Summary: 5 Stars
I saw the video review of this product (thanks) and I thought for the price I could not go wrong. My package arrived in good time and I am happy. My webcam came in a box and had no damage. I went online to download the software that was used in the video demo. It is great. I am going to buy one for my sisters so we can chat and see the family. even my mom used it and she is 56 with no pc knowledge at all, just to show how easy it functions. The light switch is great. my old webcam had no light and i had to buy a lamp just to be seen when the sun went down and that was made by G.E. .... my last wwebcam cost 4x the amount of this cam and this one is way better. goes to show low price does not me low quality all the time. If your looking into a cam i say get this one. It's great for general use and works great with Skype, Ovoo, and other internet based sites.
Customer Review: Good video quality for cheap Summary: 4 Stars
Got mine today, seems like the video is only VGA (1/2 megapixel)
I do not know if the company name is 5 megapixel or the still capture is 5 megapixel but the webcam is not.
The box says:
*Frame rate: 320X240 up to 30 frame.sec (cif)
*640X480 up to 15 frame/sec (VGA)
The box also says driverless, so it comes w/o a cd or even a manual. I just plug it in my XP PC and it worked right away
The quality of the video is surprisingly good. The 4 LEDs have a control on the wiring than can turn them on/off or diminish their brightness.
The base of the webcam is like a suction cup but I haven't been able to get it to stick to anything yet. Not even glass. Still it is pretty steady.
Lack of mic is a big let down, other than that is great video for your buck.
