Customer Review: GREAT WEBCAM, works with windows 7
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a fricking great webcam

this webcam comes without software, but it doesn't claim it does.. try downloading manycam, it's a pretty cool webcam software

this camera is compatible with windows 7, no drivers needed.. just works, out of the box (as long as you have software to view the webcam with)

people forget, NOT EVERYTHING ALWAYS COMES WITH EVERYTHING!!! people need to actually read product descriptions.. if it says it doesn't come with software, well, IT PROBABLY DOESNT!!

so, here is some help for the non techies:

-You cannot mistake mega pixels for resolution... a picture can be 320x240 and be in 5mp... mp is the quality, not the resolution.

- if you get a blurry image, try messing with the focus (turning the silver circle around) it's a manual focus, not auto

-the button on top does work, you just need the right software to use it, i'd recommend software for it so you could use the button, but i find the button useless anyway

-the best software i've ever used for webcams is "manycam" it's great, and has ALOT of settings and fun things to mess around with

so, i hope you have actually tried what i recommended above, before writing a 1 star reveiw (i severly dislike people that do that sort of thing)

I bought this little web cam in November 2009 to make creating stop motion animations easier. I was so excited when it arrived, but quickly figured out that it was not going to work with my laptop. I read the directions which said the software was already inside and all that needed to be done was to plug it in, and that it would work with Vista. When I tried to install it on my computer, it recognized it as a USB camera, but nothing else came up. No software...I could not even see the icon for it if I went to "My Computer". The only time it worked was if I was using it online.

Now with the family computer, it was a whole different story. This computer is running Windows XP. When I plugged the camera into this, I could look under "My Computer" and see an icon for the camera. And after doing this, I could see a simple screen come up that allowed me to view video, and capture as well as save pictures.

I thought I might as well deal with this, and just make videos on the home computer. However, about a week ago it completely stopped working. Both computers did not recognize it anymore at all. I spent a lot of time online trying to figure out how to fix it. I could find nothing. All in all, this camera wasn't worth it..even if it was a cheap price.

And so, it is never to be seen again.

Customer Review: Not so great, but does the job
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this camera along with USB 6 LED PC Webcam Camera plus + Night Vision MSN, ICQ, AIM, Skype, Net Meeting and compatible with Win 98 / 2000 / NT / Me / XP / Vista to use as security cameras.
The other camera puts out significantly better image quality. This camera is grainy in almost any light. The image quality is very poor, there is no contrast and it washes out anything light in color and there is no detail in that area. Adjusting the focus as accurately as possible still leaves a lot to be desired. Also when you turn the focus ring the whole image shifts around. If you are looking for decent image quality for under $7 get the one I linked to.

It also has a rheostat inline for the LED's which seems to only have 2 or 3 positions and the LED's don't help much. This camera is really bad in low light with or without the LED's.

The good:
It installed quickly with no driver/software issues. It has enough weight to it that you don't have to worry about it getting pulled off with just the weight of the cord. It has a tilt/swivel head.

I didn't use the suction cup so I can't really comment on it.

Customer Review: Extremly Good Buy For The Price
Summary: 4 Stars

I ordered this webcam on November 26 and received it on November 30 the shipping was a day ahead of when it said it was going to arrive so that was great. It arrived in a box that was a little big for it but its alright and inside that box was a tinier box which i thought was funny. Anyways i opened it up and plugged it in to my usb port got on skype and it seems to work great with it and when it records videos its pretty clear and snapshots look ok too if you have the right software i use youcam and webcam max which work good with the webcam and have alot of effects for it also that manycam software that one of the reviewers talked about works good as well. Really it's not the best webcam but you really shouldn't expect it to be for 7 dollars like other people have said in their reviews. I think this is more of a temporary webcam that people should just get if they need one right now but you shouldn't get this and expect to use it as a long term webcam. Oh and i know exactly what the other reviewers are talking about the led lights are way to bright almost blinding but some people seemed to have found use for them. Although this isn't the best webcam you can buy i would recommend it to a friend and have they plan to get one as well.

Customer Review: great little cam
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great webcam for the money. On the plus side the setup is a breeze, the picture is clear and it is simple to use. On the negative side there is very little software control outside of using messenger webcam settings to adjust it. Not that it needs much adjustment. The focus is a manual one and is eay to use. I have not found any way to adjust the frames per second so it gets a little choppy during fast movements. It also has no mike, which I actually prefer since I use exteranl mikes anyway. It is self standing with a suction cup that you might presumably attach to your monitor as well as the cam which swivels to adjust. I prefer just standing it on my desk. There is no way to get a better picture at a price 5 times as much. I had a logitech which was grainy with no backlight compensation. I also had a 8 megapixel cam that ran almost $60 which died. The picture quality of that one was not much better than this. This picture is darn near crystal clear. (See other user's video on this.) The cost of this unit will not be a waste of money, even if you just want it as a spare back up .It is definately worth the ridiculously low price!
