I have held the original in one hand with this item from Amazon in the other; exactly the same, exactly. Even though I know this is a bit quirky, I don't like bluetooth devices because they eat up your cell phone battery quickly, so I use the old-fashioned ear bud which gives me the best quality communication without looking challenged while pushing buttons on my iphone and my bluetooth while asking over and over; can you hear me. I took one of these new headsets and clipped off the earbud wire without the microphone, at the Y junction with a pair of nail clippers and now have a mono earbud that works great and wads up into a ball smaller that a Bluetooth. Hardwired quality, no battery drain, and now I don't look like someone desperately trying to pair two devices to each other that just won't cooperate when you need them to for that important call. My wife has three Bluetooth devices in her desk drawer, I have two in my sock drawer, and they will stay there forever since we discovered the modified Fredbud I made for $3.00. Fred Moore
