Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Gary Fong Puffer Pop Up Flash Diffuser - CANON/NIKONCustomer Review: Decent, not great Summary: 3 Stars
Just got this and although it does diffuse, it doesn't do it all that noticeably. I realized quickly after trying to install it on my D50 that it isn't designed to go all the way in, presumably to avoid damaging the contacts on the shoe. It will do for the convenience of fitting into my bag when I don't want to mess with a full flash unit. As for full function - it's best used for reducing over-exposed highlights on your subject, but it won't completely disperse the light from the flash.
Customer Review: Works great for on the go photographers Summary: 4 Stars
easy to use fast, convenient, small fits in camera bag or pocket no problem, only problem with it is that at close range it does not do such a good job, it still softens the light by a lot don't get me wrong its just that i would like the next model that comes out to work a bit better other than that it works great for when u go on vacation or simply don't want to carry around your speed light and diffusers on hand. and for about 20 dollars u cant complain that much. great bargain
Customer Review: Puffer Defuser Summary: 4 Stars
i had picked this defuser over the others that had been offered on amazon. After just playing around with it in my house taking pictures of my family, i am very satisfied with this. It isn't "flimsy", it does take a little bit of pressure to get the parts together, but that also makes sure they won't fall apart halfway through a shoot. The proof of the product is in the prints makes the skin tone of poeple and the color of objects more accurate and less washed out.
Customer Review: Really flimsy Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this item when it was first released. I was really looking forward to trying it out but the "patent pending" method for connecting the puffer to my Nikon D80 broke on my first attempt to insert it. I wasn't forcing it or anything, it's just a flimsy piece of plastic in my opinion. I'm really disappointed wit this product and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. This is also the second review I've put on this site for this product, my first one was removed!
Customer Review: Poor built quality Summary: 2 Stars
It was not possible for me to fix this thing on to the hot shoe without shaving off some plastic from this using a box cutter. Even now doesn't fit easily. Have to push hard. Doesn't feel like treating my camera like that. Also, this is very small so unless you stand quite near the object of your photo, the object casts a shadow. (That is basic photographic theory.) I can get the same effect with holding a normal white sheet of paper in front of the flasher.
