I have a couple of USB cables like this one which came with my digital cameras but I wanted a separate one which I always keep with my GPS unit. I do not understand why some people rate this product with 1 star just because it is a standard USB cable. Did they expect a Garmin specific USB cable, which obviously does not exist, everybody knows that. All USB cables are standard and not equipment specific. This is a very well made and more heavy duty USB cable than any of my camera cables, and for $1.85 with free shipping how can you complain and rate this product with 1 star.Customer Review: Using my Garmin on a long trip.

My Garmin loves to avoid stop lights and signs. To do so it directs me way around town, taking much longer that a direct route including stop signs/lights.
If I don't have a specific address, i.e. airport in Las Vegas it gets con- fused. (I unfortunately did not have my instructions with me.)
For use in my home area it has been wonderful. No more copying maps from Goolgle or Yahoo. Garmin nuvi 200 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

The Garmin cable worked well; however when ordering the Garmin USB cable, Amazon's description showed 3.5" disk software (old Tech)included, it was even printed on the packing slip, however NO software (of any type) was included with the Garmin USB cable. This is why I gave it only 4 stars!

I purchased this usb cable in order to be able to update my Garmin nuvi 255w through my computer. Firstly I have to mention that I had to cut open the clam shell packaging, so this definately was not the frustration free packaging that was promised by amazon (although it could have been worse). And then I went to plug it into my nuvi and it did not fit! I am very disappointed because when I searched I specifically put in "garmin nuvi 255w usb cable". Low and behold that is not what I got. After I purchased this, I read on the Garmin website that any compatible USB cable will do. So this product is good if you want the GARMIN name on it--if not, you may find a compatible cable at your local Dollar Tree :). I purchased this for my Garmin NUVI 255 WT and it works fine. It is the same USB cable sold on the Garmin website which is the cable you need to register, download updates, etc. It does not charge your GPS.
