Customer Review: Different for Avalon and no "individual parts" only.

The friction mount is, as most everyone already knows, about the most sensible accessory for the Garmin GPS. Stays put, doesn't leave any telltale signs of a GPS in the car (ring on windshield) and is easy to use. It is really not useful on most upper dash sections of Avalon automobiles because of the narrow upper dash. It will, however, fit nicely on the secondary (lower section) dash just in front of the "information readout" area. I would actually rather have it there because the unit, with GPS attached, doesn't sit as tall and still has a clear view of satellites. I do wish you could buy just the non-suction mount itself without the bean bag as I already have an extra bean bag that the mount would fit. I don't really trust the suctioned mount as they have failed me in the past. Prior to purchasing this item, I had utilized the stand that came with my unit. Although it did it's job, it was not a very attractive accessory and the adhesive which secured the stand to the dashboard spotted the surface of the dashboard and was very sticky to the touch. The Garmin Portable Friction Unit sits comfortably on the dashboard and the weight of the base does not allow it to slide around when driving. Since it is not attached to the dashboard in any way, there are no unsightly marks left by this product. I simply remove it from the dashboard surface when I park and place it on my console out of view. It is a much more practical way of mounting your Garmin unit in your vehicle. I bought my first Garmin GPS in 2003. It came with a friction mount. Disappointed that the new ones don't. So I bought a new Garmn GPS for my wife this Christmas and ordered this mount for
her. Neither one of us like having to mount the GPS to the window. Leaves marks on the windsheild as we take the GPS off when we park the car. Now we can just slide the GPS under the seat, where we feel it will be safer.

I have tried 4 different type of GPS Car mount, None of them work, except friction mount. This is best mount for Garmin GPS.
