Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Garmin Map Update 2009 for City Navigator North America NTCustomer Review: GPS Updater Summary: 5 StarsThis is a great software to keep your Garmin up to date on the roadway changes, and numerous other information available in your Garmin GPS. This is a life time upgrade with 4 per year updates. Update are a bit slow for the 56 mps DSL service I have, but with faster service naturally it should down load faster. Mine took about 8 Hours but it uploaded 2.09MB to completely correct changes.
Customer Review: Just what I needed Summary: 5 StarsI needed to update the maps especially for my home town. New streets are being added all the time.
Customer Review: DO NOT PURCHASE Summary: 1 StarsDo not purchase this product. I have a 2005 Street Pilot model c330. The subdivision I live in was completed in October of 2006 and here it is August of 2009 and it does not show my address, that's 34 months folks.
Do not waste your hard earned money on an outdated product.

Customer Review: Garmin Map Update Summary: 3 StarsSoftware worked well and was easy to update. However, I have two identical Garmin GPS systems and expected to update both from the CD. Only after receiving the product does one find out that only one update is allowed. When I called Garmin, they were ruder than heck!
Customer Review: Good product, but still not 100% Summary: 3 StarsI have a Nuvi that I bought in 2007. It had the 2008 update but I found that there were a number of roads not in the software. Since my job is field service, I need to have accurate information, so I went with the Update 2009. Installation is easy but it takes about 30 minutes or longer to complete. Don't do this when pressed for time! I am still finding that some roads that were created or reconfigured over a year before the product was released are still not updated in the software. I also have problems on occasion where the map places the location on the wrong side of the street, but it gets me there.
My overall impression is that it's not worth making a yearly update, especially for the price. Every two years might be more realistic. It would also be great if there were a way to feed back errors in the maps so that they could be corrected in future releases. I'd say that the product is about 95% accurate based on my area.
