Customer Review: Don't get lost

I have a Garmin GPS. We travel all over the Country and don't know where we are going most of the time. My husband does not like to listen to it but when we are lost, I turn it on, find where we are and how to get to where we are going. The downside is, it does not always take you the fastest way if you know where you are going. I use it when I drive because I get where I am gong every time. (It may take a little longer but I get there). I like the fact that it tells me ahead of time that a turn is comming up so I can be prepare to get in the right lane. I am very comfortable to drive anywhere and know I won't get lost.Customer Review: Disapointed

I have had my Garmin for about 2 years now and wont go anywhere without it but it was not able to find addresses in newer areas so I wanted to update it. I think it became worse with the update, since it still can't find addresses in newer areas and it still has the same errors that it had before like "arriving at destination on right" when it really is on the left. That happens alot. The voices are also different and the previous voice was better. For the money I expected more but my unit was acting really strange (planned obsolescence?) so I decided to update but in my opinion the update was a waste of money.Customer Review: Waste of money

I live in the Minneapolis metro area and can personally say that updating my GPS with this database produced close to zero improvement. Many new developments which have been built and completed at least a year ago are still not in the database. Many new business that have been around for over a year are still not in the database. Most interstate and highway improvements in my area are not in the database, some of which have been completed for close to FOUR (YES 4) years.
My recommendation is to not waste your money purchasing this update. I guarantee you will not get your money's worth.

BEFORE beginning the upload or install process visit the Garmin web site & be certain that your GPS is up to date.
The install process went very smoothly once the GPS unit was updated to its latest firmware. After updating your GPS the map upload takes about 40 minutes or so. The updated maps are just fine.
Should you encounter any problems with the updates the Garmin tech support people are very adept at getting you through them.
I WOULD recommend this product for purchase. And, I might add ..... Amazon.com had the best price for it.

If you are going to get a GPS, I don't know why you wouldn't also update it periodically. The update took awhile to load and I don't know what is different yet but I certainly would recommed the product. The GPS has help us arrive smoothly to places we were unfamiliar with many times so far. As mentioned in other reviews, you can't follow any GPS blindly because the unit does not know what direction you are facing when you are stopped so it might send you in the opposite direction. If it does, once you are moving it will re-direct you to the right direction.
