Customer Review: Garmin 2008 Map Update
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been very impressed with all of Garmin's products. This map update is no exception. The load and update process is very straight forward with excellent guidance from the software. I have, however, found a few subdivisions in my immediate area which did not make this update, in spite of the streets being 2-3 years old. Between the update to my files on my laptop, and the files updated on my Garmin 7200, the update process took about 25 minutes...most of that time watching the files move across to my GPS unit. I recommend that anyone with a NT based Garmin GPS take advantage of this update. Note that the install process registers it to the first GPS to which the update is made. If you own multiple Garmin GPS units, you will need to purchase multiple copies of this update!

Customer Review: Garmins map Update 2008 is the Pits
Summary: 1 Stars

Be Warned "Garmin's City Navigator North America NT 2008, is the Pits.
I Bought the GARMIN C340 THREE years ago and loved it.I Updated it to the Newer Maps when they came out City Navigator NT North America NT v8,.Maps were Good,Then I Updated to "Garmin's City Navigator North America NT 2008,Big Mistake.
Now my Garmin Directs me to take every Small Off the Wall County Road it can find and I mean the "small out of the way route's".
Garmin should have Recalled that Version and made it rite.I will not be Updating my Garmin to the New Ver. for 2009,Instead I have Reinstalled My Old Version of Garmin's Map Program from my Older Update Disk "City Navigator NT North America NT v8."
Edwin
Now I have my Old Garmin Working Like it should.

Customer Review: Was it woth it?
Summary: 3 Stars

My wife bought me a Garmin c530 for Christmas, 2007. Sears had it on sale because Garmin was discontinuing this model. The c530 came loaded with the old mapset (which still worked fine here in the NJ region). Garmin should have allowed for a free upgrade, but they were being cheap, IMHO. When I had some extra money, I finally bought the 2008 update pack. Its now loaded into my c530, but I can't say that I've noticed any real difference so far. I guess I really didn't get enough time to test out the old mapset (which found all the adresses I asked it for) to compare it to the new mapset. In my opinion, unless you had had experiences where your Garmin couldn't get you to where you asked it to, I wouldn't recommend spending the $$$.

Customer Review: After Reading All of the Reviews...
Summary: 5 Stars

After reading all of the reviews from people, it seemed like the majority of them did not like it. The problem seemed to be people writing the negative reviews of the software did not show new construction in their area. After reading all of the reviews. I decided to purchase the update. I was taking a chance. I was lucky. It had the streets where I live in Florida. BUT I must admit, I called Garmin and asked them if they could see my home on the update. They said, "Yes."

It took about ninety minutes to load it to my Garmin Nuvi 350. I am very pleased with the product. If you're not sure if the update contains your home, contact Garmin either by phone or email. They should be able to tell you (if they have time).

Customer Review: Not worth the upgrade.
Summary: 2 Stars

After much deliberation on this 2008 upgrade, I took the plunge and decided to see if it was worth it. After 3 months traveling along the Southeast (Florida to Washington, D.C.), this upgrade still does not have the newer streets along this route that my old 2007 didn't have. As a matter of fact, I have yet to find a single difference between the two versions and I've traveled a lot on the road these past 3 months including out to Texas. Well established neighborhoods that didn't show up in last years version are still blank in this "upgrade". I'd be curious to see the lists of new streets added. In all, I'd hold off buying this right now if I could do it again. I love my Garmin, but this version is unnecessary.
