Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Garmin GSC 10 Speed/Cadence Bike SensorCustomer Review: GARMIN CADENCE SENSOR Summary: 4 Stars
So far it works great.
Had to readjust a couple times to get both the cadence and the speed sensors to work. Actually had to turn the sensing unit upside down to best pick them up. However, not very mechanically inclined, so take the difficulty as mostly user error.
Purchased it mainly to track workouts on my indoor trainer during the winter. However, have used the cadence info on my outside rides more than expected to target training zones.
It felt like it took forever to get here, ship time was over the high end of the estimate. But that was a temporary inconvenience that does not reflect on the product.
Customer Review: Sensitive Summary: 3 Stars
Cool tool to use if you can get it to synch properly. It is verrrry sensitive and if the adjustment is not perfect your cadence will not register. After several bike rides I find that I have had to readjust it each time. My ADD is starting to kick in and I am finding this to be a pain. It is entirely possible that due to operator error I may have not installed it properly at the beginning. Once hooked up properly it sychs seemlessly with the Garmin.
So if you have the patience( and good installation skills) go ahead and get it, the price makes it an easy purchase and this can be a beneficial tool in your training.
Customer Review: Hard to install, but huge benefit afterwards Summary: 4 Stars
When I bought the Sensor and saw all the few pieces that come in the box, I was certain something was missing. But no.... there is barely anything to it, it just needs to be installed in a very specific manner. On my road bike there was unfortunately only one way/spot where I could install the sensor due to the shape of my pedal bar and my back feel spikes. It seemed in the beginning a little unsteady, however nothing has moved yet even after multiple rides. The rubber on the detector is quiet good in not letting it move from the installed spot. The sensitivity is very good and accurate when compared to other bikers n my group.
Customer Review: Really "slick" Summary: 5 Stars
I actually really like this add-on to the garmin system. It is small, light weight, reads very accurately (does not need a satellite reading) and can be used both indoors and outside. As it attaches to the rear chain-stay on the crank side, I get both speed and cadence when on the trainer. It is exceptionally easy to set up (can be customized to wheel circumference) and can be adjusted for 3 bikes. I put bike mounts on my other two bikes so I can switch off as needed. It works just like any other wireless cycling computer and the settings on the Forerunner 305 give plenty of info as did my Polar CS200. Well worth the cost.
Customer Review: Re-scan always necessary Summary: 3 Stars
This Cadence sensor is for my second bike.
The manual says the Garmin Edge 305 automatically scans for a cadence sensor every time the unit is powered up. They are serialized somehow to avoid picking up somebodies else's data. When I move my Garmin Edge 305 from one bike to the other, I must always plow through the menu system, usually while trying to start my ride, to make the 305 re-scan for the new cadence sensor. I suppose it looks for the last cadence sensor it used, which it can't find so it gives up until I have to tell it look for a new sensor. This is a nuisance but otherwise it works fine.
