Customer Review: A wonderful traveling companion
Summary: 5 Stars

This unit is a wonderful traveling companion. It locks onto the sats quickly and is very user friendly. I really enjoy using it on trips in the vehicle. It also works very well when walking. I also enjoy the downloading capability from the mapping software I purchased separately. I enjoy being able to review my trips via computer, and even printing them. I make my own topo maps of various places.
I have had the unit now for over a year. It is reliable, accurate, and alot of fun. You never have to worry about getting lost when you have a unit like this with you.
This would make a wonderful gift for anyone.

Customer Review: My hunting and fishing guide
Summary: 5 Stars

I first received a G.P.S. for Christmas two years ago after getting lost in the woods. I used it everywhere, But it was only the GPSII plus. It was stollen 10 months ago and I was crushed. I recently perchased the GPSIII Plus and it's amazing. I can't wait to get a topo map to down load so I can use it hunting or fishing. It's a tool that should go along with all the assentials of hunting...ie; binocolars, gun &1st aid kit. I know that's the first thing I grab when getting ready to hike the hills.I would recommend it to everyone who likes the outdoors.

Customer Review: Garmin vs. US Army AN/ASN-149 GPS Nav System
Summary: 5 Stars

Several pilots in my National Guard CH47D unit have been using the Garmin GPS III for over a year now with excellent results. Due to this prior to a return flight from Fort Irwin, CA to Key Field, Meridian, MS I purchased a GPS III at the clothing sales store at Fort Irwin. During the return flight of approximately 1500 miles the Garmin consistantly out performed the installed GPS nav system in our helicopters. It out performed the AN/ASN-149 to the point I turned the system off and relied on the Garmin for over 1000 miles of the flight.

Customer Review: Great Unit
Summary: 5 Stars

I have this baby attached to my dash with velcro and have found it to be a great help in the city and in the country. I also use it hiking in the mountains. It's pretty handy for that as long as you keep the antenna high enough. I ended up sewing velcro to the shoulder strap of my backpack and mouted it with the antenna pointing up. Battery life is amazing and the accuracy is pretty good in the car. I usually get a good fix on 6 satellites from my car and that gives me position to about 60 feet--more than enough to tell what road you're on.

Customer Review: Never Get Lost Again!
Summary: 5 Stars

I first used this while vacationing in New Hampshire on Lake Winnipesauke. Since the lake is so big and everything looks the same when you are in the middle, the GPS was invaluable in telling me how to get back home. Plus the maps of the lake all have the coordinates of the buoys -- so you can punch them in and have an instant navigation aid.

On the downside, my unit seems to take a while to acquire a signal - usually longer still when in heavy brush/woods. However I realize this is a built-in limitation of GPS units as a hole.
