Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Garmin Forerunner Quick Release KitCustomer Review: This Mounting Kit Works Great! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm not sure what all the negative reviews are about concerning the device popping out of the cradle. If that's the case, then the user obviously did not install is correctly. There's no way mine is popping out. The cradle secures the device very well. It's even hard to get it off until you get the hang of it. Or maybe Garmin has redesigned the cradle. But there's no danger whatsoever of the device popping out.
It's very convenient and easily switches back and forth. I used it today for a bike ride and then popped it off and put it on my wrist for the run. The velcro strap is also a big improvement over the plastic wrist strap that comes with the 305.
Customer Review: If I had only known Summary: 5 Stars
Great product, better than expected. I only wish someone (Garmin or Amazon)would have given a better description of what it does and how it works - I would have bought it a lot sooner, so here it goes. First you remove the original wristband that came with the Garmin. Attach the included clip to the bike hadlebars with the plastic ties and then you can easily attach and detach your garmin 305 to the clip, it just snaps in. If you want to use it for running, you snap it in the included velcro wristband. I haven't used it for running yet but I think the velcro wristband seems mmore comfortable than than the original rubber wristband anyway. No regrets.
Customer Review: Buy it just to get rid of the cheesey plastic strap that came on your Forerunner Summary: 5 Stars
If I had known how much better I'd like the flexible velcro strap than the cheesey plastic strap that comes on the Forerunner, I'd have bought this product long before I ever decided to try the Forerunner on my bike. The plastic strap that comes with the Forerunner was always a little too loose or a little too tight, and when you sweat on it it gets slimey and slides around all over the place. But this velcro strap is infinitely adjustable and sits nicely against the skin without chaffing or sliding. I just used it for a marathon and it "disappeared" in use and became invisible to me, just as you want your equipment to do in that situation.
Customer Review: Works OK, but not on rough roads Summary: 2 Stars
I got the quick release kit several months ago, and have been using it with no problems until today. I found out that even if the GPS is securely attached to the mounting bracket, it can come loose on rough roads. I hit a bump on my ride today, and my $200 GPS went sailing. I checked before I left to ensure that the unit was securely fastened in the bracket, and it was. Luckily I found my GPS and it survived, but others may not be so lucky. That's a lot of money to trust to a bracket that's not 100% secure. Keep on the bike paths or smooth roads, and you may be alright, but I no longer trust my kit and have removed it from my bike.
Customer Review: Garnin wins again Summary: 4 Stars
If you have a garmin 305 this is a great device to transfer it to your bike. This attachment easily fits on your handlebar and doesn't take much time to install or room on the bar. I have mine on the left side of the stem (my speedometer/odometer is on the right. You can snap it in or out in a second and it is pretty secure. They include a wrist strap that has the same snap in and out capability. I have used it for about a month....just a little concerned that the snapping in part may crack over time due to overuse...so far...so good. For the price I guess you could simply replace it when that happens....if it happens.
