Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Garmin Forerunner 50 Water Resistant Running GPS With Heart Rate Monitor and Foot PodCustomer Review: Great product & very pleased Summary: 5 Stars
My wife saw this advertised in a magazine & said she would like it so I got it for her for Mother's Day. I have used it too several times & have been very pleased with the way it operates. The heart monitor & foot pod all work extrememly well and having this makes you want to work out. I walk around my neighborhood & take different routes & I like to know how how far I have been walking & this does the trick. I also like having the pace show under the other readings to get me to speed up, etc. The heart rate monitor is very comfortable to wear & seems very accurate. I will probably purchase a second one for myself. That is how pleased I am with the product. It lived up to what it claimed to do --- that sums it up!
Customer Review: Lots of techie functions...set paired with heart monitor and foot pod... Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this item for my boyfriend's Christmas gift. He has only used it a handful of times over the last couple of months. After having to read and reread the manual a bunch of times, we finally figured out how to access the easier functions (amongst quite a few options). He loves being able to keep tabs on his speed, distance, etc. My only complaints are that the display is not user-friendly (menu titles are not intuitive and toggling through menus is a pain) and the batteries died after only 2 months. My boyfriend is still trying to figure out the more complicated settings but at least the batteries were easy enough to change out (got replacements at a local drug store that carries batteries for medical devices).
Customer Review: Great product, hard to get started Summary: 4 Stars
I have used Garmin products before and have always been satisfied. The Forerunner 50 is replacing one of the older, much larger GPS Garmin units. My only hesitation was giving up the GPS option, but with the foot pad it still does a great job at tracking distance.
The only downside so far has been the computer link. The Garmin website would not allow me to register (this step is needed to link to computer with the ANT USB). I contacted Garmin and they did the registration process for me (very good customer service, but a step I could live without). The first few syc's didn't register any info, but now has been working fine.
Overall, once you get it going a great product.
Customer Review: Foot pod might die on you for no reason Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this item over a year ago for $120 and it came with the footpod, HRM, watch and USB ANT stick. I really liked it. If you use it a lot you get used to the software. It can pace you by speed or Heart rate, and will beep if you fall behind. I really liked that i could track my speed. But then the Foot Pod died out of nowhere. I replaced the battery, but it still would not connect with the watch. And now buying the replacement foot pod by itself costs $120. I'm really disappointed in garmin and this product. In fact i feel completely ripped off.
I'm considering getting the Nike +Ipod sportkit instead, at least if it breaks it will only cost me $30 to replace.
Customer Review: Forerunner 50 Summary: 5 Stars
This is the second Forerunner 50 I bought. I've owned one for about a year, and I just bought one for my wife as a birthday present. I think the Forerunner 50 is a great device if your looking for a basic distance/pace/heart rate monitor. The watch is about the size of a regular watch, the footpod is unnoticeable, and the heart rate monitor is very comfortable. I also like the computer software to organize all of my activities. I think this is great if you like running non-standard routes and you want to know how far your running! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to run more seriously and track distance and time, and not break the bank.
