This watch is a great training tool and a fun toy. The problem is that it fails to work as advertised way too often. I've had difficulties transferring data from the watch to my computer on more than one occasion and it always seems to happen after a race or a long training day (exactly when you want the data most). The customer support at Garmin is terrible, which makes correcting whatever new problem arises miserable.
Be prepared to wait long periods of time for customer service support to get this watch working properly if you buy it.

My wife and I have been through a lot of computers and heartrate monitors before we both bought the 310's. We have had them for a month now and they are awesome. The software online is super easy to use. The watch I know has a lot of functionality that we don't currently use, but what we've figured out so far is great! Anyway, I'm not one to right reviews hardly ever, but have loved this watch so much I wanted to put my comments out there for anyone who cares.

I owned the Garmin 305 for nearly 3 years and loved it. This is a wonderful improvement upon an already great product. The back light is brighter, heart rate monitor fits better and downloading and charging is much easier. The best part is that you can swim with it. If an additional strap is purchased, it is even easier to switch between sports during a triathlon. Definitely recommend this product to the beginning to advanced runner and triathlete.Customer Review: great product with a few minor issues

I use this to keep track of my runs, particularly when I'm out of town on business. Overall it's great and very easy to use, including uploading of data to the Garmin web site. The only complaints I have are that 1) it can take a fairly long time (around 5 minutes) to have it find satellites and be ready to use and 2) the elevation data seem to be totally inaccurate and fairly useless. I have yet to use the Garmin in the water as it's too cold to do open water swimming just yet. But I have had nothing but good things to say about the Garmin for running and biking. I have a trainer who uses the downloaded information from each workout to monitor and tailor my training. She accesses it from the Garmin website with my password. This is, for me, one of the best aspects of this watch.
