As you can see in the picture, the nav device mounts in the middle and there are three heavy rubber pads that extend from the center. This mount works great, with my Garmin c330, in my wife's Corolla because there is a flat dashboard to mount it on. It doen't work so great on the dashboard of my IS300, however, because there isn't much surface area on my dash. However, the mount works well enough that I can adjust and fit it into the dahboard cabinet where the factory nav device would have been.
This device provides a secure and stable mount that I feel comfortable leaving a $300 nav device on, without concern. It would be nice if I could figure out a neat way to run the cable to the 12v adapter, but I would have that problem with any OEM device I used. In California, it is illegal to mount this device on the windshield, but this is a good alternative.

This a great mount. I use it in addition to the window mount that came with the c330. The window mount stays in the car I mainly drive. I use the dashboard mount when I drive my other car and want to use the gps in it. The dashboard mount is easy to move from one car to another, and it stays put. I travel roads on that have 90 degree turns, and most of the time, I go through them at more than 40 mph. During the turns, the dashboard mount does not move. Fantastic!
I only wish the gps could sit lower in the dashboard mount. In the car I mainly drive, I adjusted my window mount so that the gps just touches the dashboard, so as to minimize blockage of my view. When using the dashboard mount the gps sits about an inch and a half above the dashboard, so it impedes my view slightly more. Otherwise, I think this is a great mount!

I have to say this Garmin Dashboard Mount is exactly what I needed. I currently use it with my StreetPilot in my 2004 Acura TL. I was concerned that the dashboard mount would not hold and would slip and slide based on some on the negative reviews I read on Amazon prior to purchasing. Well I have not experienced any problems. I have used it without problem on streets and highways, accelarating through turns and with some sharp stops and in all situations my Garmin and Dashmount stayed in place. I also wish this was the default mount provided with the StreetPilot versus the window mount which doesn't keep the Garmin in place I found.
I also like the Dashboard mount as it makes it more convenient for me to take my Garmin and use in rental cars when I travel for business.
I would highly recommend the Garmin Dashboard Mount.

I went to the west coast (CA NV AZ) for a vacation and this came just in time before our flight. I drove to and from the airports, Vegas to the Canyon to Sedona, and SF to Tahoe to Muir Woods and back and to Salinas-Carmel-Monterey then back to SF again. This dash mount performed excellently. No problem even with sudden breaks. It just moved a little, perhaps 1/8" even on those SF 45-degree inclines. No need for a velcro or glue. It's highly transportable, like my GPS. As long as there's room on the dashboard, any c340 is perfectly safe. It came with a cigarette lighter cord and charged my c340 too. The suction cup with my c340 does not hold very long, maybe 30 min., max. Although it is worth the extra money, this should have been included in the GPS package, in my opinion. Since my Garmin is no longer produced most big box stores told me to buy a new, updated model. I didn't need the expense. Mine was working perfectly well but the wire from the window mount broke off.I would venture to say this wire could only last so long. Why didn't Garmin offer this option when product was purchased? Much better than the suction cup mount because when your windows are not squeaky clean the suction cup doesn't adhere. Go over a bump and the Garmin is in your lap. Also the sticker (which is permanent)used for sitting it on the dashboard was also not an option as I have a leased car. Now my Garmin can be placed anywhere on the dashboard or in the bump out over my radio. I personally did not like hanging it on the window as it can block your view. If you want an easy removal, just pick it up and stow away in glovebox.
