Customer Review: Works great
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this because my suction based holder was getting loose, it would fall a couple of times every trip.

This unit works just fine. You basically mount the GPS onto this stand, and just keep the stand where ever you want in front. It's heavy and has this friction/sticky pads on the bottom which prevent it from moving around. It slides a little with time, so after a few hours, or once in a while you might just have to push it back to its original position - That is totally fine, not an issue at all.

It makes gps much more accessible to the driver, specially because the suction thing you couldn't control the actual position of the GPS very well. But this one you can just keep anywhere and it works. Also, much more safe because if suction one falls in the middle of driving, you better not try to fix it while driving. This one has no such issues.

Good product, reasonably priced.

Customer Review: An absolutely essential accessory.
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an absolutely essential accessory for your Garmin c-series GPS, for two reasons.

First, the windshield suction cup mount supplied with the GPS isn't as reliable as you might think and hope. It will grip tightly, but at completely unpredictable times, it will suddenly release, dumping your GPS onto the floor. When that happens, you'll grab for it, and the results of doing that at highway speeds could be catastrophic. I think this might be caused by changes in the temperature of the windshield as you drive into and out of the sun, turn the heat up and down, etc.

Second, in some states, it's illegal to obscure the windshield with anything, and the ticket for doing so can be significant. Even if it's not illegal, it's not a good thing, and this mount solves that problem.

The mount is well-built, fits the GPS perfectly, and works exactly the way it's supposed to.

Customer Review: Accident concerns
Summary: 4 Stars

Um, I don't know if this thought has only crossed my mind, but if you get into an accident, it's assumed that you're moving forward right before you get hit, right? newton's laws of physics state that if there is a sudden directional change, an object will have the tendency to move in the same direction as it was before the directional change. therefore, if a car is moving forwards and suddenly stops, an object that is not secured down is going to continue to move in a forward direction. the unit would most definitely fly and hit the windshield in this case.

the only way it would fly backwards and hit someone in the backseat is if you're driving in reverse at a ridiculous speed and come to a screeching stop all of a sudden. and if you're doing that, your children deserve to get smacked around a little.

goodness gracious. it's basic physics! silly people.

Customer Review: It doesn't like bumpity, bump highways.
Summary: 3 Stars

When I received this mount I thought it was great, until we took our first trip with it. It sits on the dash of our Volvo S80 fine, and it stays put on smooth highways. But as soon as you get on a rough highway, like a concrete road with uneven expansion joints, the constant bump, bump, bump will cause the mount to start walking down the dash. On a couple of occasions it actually fell, and luckily my wife caught it. We finally wedged a paper clip in a joint of the dash, slipped the mount over the clip, and that held it in place....but it shouldn't need that. Also, it doesn't sit on the dash of my old (1991) Ford F150 well at all, but that's an old truck and I expect the dash of newer trucks may be larger and flatter. Otherwise it's fine and I'll probably keep it because the original suction cup mount didn't last long before the rubber cup tore. I really don't want another of those.

Customer Review: Great product, a few application exceptions
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this recently for my garmin. It works great provided you are in a car with a reasonable amount of power. There's no real magic involved. There are 3 bean bags and they each have friction padding on the bottom.

But 0-60 in 5 seconds or so will fling it around your dash like a rag doll. It doesn't like G-forces that much. For everyday putting around it will work great. I'm not advocating driving like a maniac but if you leave it on your dash when you head off to the drag strip you're going to be in for a rude surprise when that thing slides off and hits you.

Some of the reviews here make it seem as if it'll hold on in any situation, just posting so people don't get unrealistic expectations.

For most people it'd be a 5/5. It works well when you drive reasonably. Just dont be surprised if it doesnt hold in emergency maneuvers, etc.
