I was extremely unimpressed with the suction kit that came with my C340. Mulitiple times during a two hour trip it would fall off the window and skid across the dashboard. Your natural instinct is to grab for it and that just leads to all sorts of driving problems at 70 mph. With this dashboard mount, it is amazingly stable. I've had it for a month now and have taken two trips with it down that same two hour drive (plus my daily commute) and have never even seen it slide an inch once! The three legs are slightly tacky and they hold onto the dash extremely well. The only thing I would say that could be improved would be the center part that holds the actual GPS unit. It has screw tension mounts that are supposed to determine the rigidity of the movement in the GPS unit. Mine are at the absolute tightest and the GPS unit itself will still rotate up and down slightly with bumps. But seriously, other than that, I would say this product was designed to perfection. If you have the window suction mount, sooner or later you'll discover what I'm talking about with the unit falling down. Buy this product and you won't ever have to worry about that again. Even at sharp 40 mph turns, this dashboard mount held tight in place. Amazing product, 5 star rating...Customer Review: Awesome!

When I bought the Garmin c320, I really wasn't pleased with the fact that the plug attached to the base, and then to the Garmin, instead of directly from plug to Garmin. The suction cup feature was not good as far as taking from one car to the other. Later on, I misplaced the suction cup piece as I'd just carry the Garmin with me & run it using its battery. When I finally went to recharge it (great battery life!), I was frustrated as I needed that suction cup part to recharge it! I had the cord & the Garmin, but no suction cup to plug them together... I went for a few months waiting for it to show up (we were moving so stuff got packed up.) I went to the Garmin website and it was $50 approx. but then checked Amazon - yes, a better price and a better functioning part! This dashboard mount is a much better option than the one that came with the Garmin. I love that I can pull off the Garmin and the tiny part & cord from the base and tuck it in my pocketbook, and Easily put it right back on the mount. The weighted mount works pretty good. The windshield mount that came with my c330 worked well until this winter when it began falling off on a regular basis. (I suspect the extreme temperature changes we've experienced in Georgia had something to do with it.) After catching my GPS before it hit my vehicle's floor for the third time I decided I needed a better solution. I found the Garmin Dash Mount on Amazon for a fair price and decided to give it a try.
I am very pleased with the Dash Mount. It is very easy to adjust the unit to the perfect viewing position. It's very easy to move from vehicle to vehicle. It's also easy to move out of the view of prying eyes when my vehicle is unattended. I have taken several sharp, fast turns and the unit has not budged.
My only complaint is that this is the mounting system that should come along with the unit when purchased. Every time the unit is turned on the unit displays a warning of the dangers of trying to operate the GPS while driving. Have you ever tried catching a flying GPS that has just come detached from a windshield while driving?
I would highly recommend this to anyone with a c320, c330 or c340.

I bought this mount on my friends recommendation. I used his in my car & loved it. The windshield mount that the Garmin units come with is ok, but you can never count on them to stay mounted. Anytime, especially on a hot day, you may find it on the floor when you return to your vehicle. They also are less convenient to switch between vehicles, and are visible to potential theives. This mount just sits on the dash and rarely slides at all. When I park the car, I take it off the dash & put it on the floor in the back seat. In one of my cars, it fits under the seat & can't be seen. In the other, you can see it if you are really looking, but it is better than leaving it on the dash. My only complaints are that the cord does not detach. if you are using the unit on battery power you have to wind the cord up or bunch it up on the dash. It would be nice if you could detach it. Also, I really wonder what would happen in a crash. This is not affixed at all, so in any impact it will fly around. I thought about putting some velcro on the bottom of one of the feet but haven't gotten around to it.Customer Review: Works great with my StreetPilot c330

I ordered this mount two days ago after my ancient StreetPilot's usb port broke... which is, now, months after the suction cup mount flung itself from my windshield, thereby breaking off the round plug power port. I truly wish the friction mount came with the unit instead of the suction cup mount. The friction mount is more user-friendly and, actually, must safer since I can tell when the unit is sliding rather than simply flying off at a moment's notice. The mount, cradle, and power cable all worked perfectly with my c330 and, as I backed down and drove up my steep driveway, nothing moved. Now, instead of leaving the mount attached to the windshield when parked, I can simply move it to my car floor. Safer all around! The only negatives I have is that the little pads glued to the bottom of this mount are not very secure. I predict that I will need to re-glue these myself but that is a small price to pay, if you ask me! I also think that these mounts are WAY too expensive, especially considering that we are having to purchase these to replace broken mounts due to faulty design.
