I often use the Garmin GPS without plugging into the cigarette lighter outlet to minimize the mess (the Garmin cord has too much friction and can get entangled easily). With this product, you can recharge the GPS anywhere you can find an AC outlet. The power cable works as advertised - plug it in and it works.Customer Review: The best i've ever seen

Garmin doesn't include an A/C charger with their Nuvi 760 GPS. Since it is very handy to charge to charge the GPS unit completely before using it, I ordered this charger from Amazon. It is a genuine Garmin product (not aftermarket), works perfectly, and was priced lower than any other seller including Garmin!Customer Review: Need this

I can't believe this isn't included with the purchase of any Garmin GPS, but it isn't. It's a necessity unless you want to sit in your car while you program the addresses you need. Mini USB connection. Need not buy OEM, just ensure you buy proper voltage. At 40% off MSRP, it's not to big a rip off. Product works fine, but then again it's just a charger... If unit is used in car, this product is really not necessary as your GPS should have come with a car charger (12V) at a minimum.
