Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Garmin 4.3-Inch Carrying CaseCustomer Review: Buy something else! Summary: 1 Stars
I just got the case and don't like it at all. When it's new, the Garmin doesn't slide out easily as the case is slightly longer than the device itself. This means you have stick your fingers in there and stretch the sides to grab the Garmin so you can pull it out.
Second, it's snug so it will always slide the power button as you try to remove it (depending on which direction you put it in the case). This is annoying as I charged my Garmin all night and my wife decided to "help me out" by putting it back in the case for me. When she did, it turned the Garmin on. When I got to my destination and sat in my rental car, the power was drained. It's just a stupid design and you shouldn't have to think about which direction you put the device into the case.
Also, since the case is tight initially I can see it stretching over time , which means this open-end design is setting you up for a disaster. Eventually, your Garmin WILL slide out of there unexpectedly and crash to the floor.
I'm looking for a new case because this one is definitely retarded.
Customer Review: Doesn't fit the Nuvi 650 Summary: 1 Stars
After reading someone else's review saying that this case fit the Nuvi 650 (and that the 650 doesn't come with its own case), I decided this case was worth the price just to have a basic covering for my Nuvi when I decided to take it walking or put it in my bag.
I just received my 650 and this case, and although the case's packaging specifically says that it fits the 650, it doesn't! You can cram it in there if you really try, but it's obviously straining the side seams of the case to do so, and it's wedged in so tightly that it's almost impossible to get out again. I pushed it in all the way, and it took two people to get it out (one prying the case's sides open, one pulling the unit out)! If you slide it in most, but not all, of the way, it's easier to yank it out again, but then it's not covering the entire Nuvi.
Given that this is the official Garmin case, and it specifically says that it fits my model, I'm really surprised that it does such a crappy job. I'll be looking for a different case that actually fits the 650.
Customer Review: OK solution Summary: 3 Stars
Looking at most of the carrying cases, I found them to be much too bulky, I don't need a box for cables, spare memory cards etc, I just needed something to transport the GPS between car and home/work (to not leave it in the car). I don't expect much for $12 and this is an OK and very compact solution to cover the Garmin nüvi 760 for that purpose, even though I think Garmin should include a solution for the GPS's price tag...
For the person who wrote a 2-star review and complained about the hard sides and the tight fit: that is the whole point! You don't want the GPS to fall out of its carrying case, hence, it needs to be very snug. And for the lack of padding: if it is snug and has two hard shells, there is no need for padding, the screen gets protected very well by the hardness of the main sides, even if you were to drop it.
One tip, however, is to push the GPS in with the ON/OFF switch last, otherwise, you will turn the unit on as you slide it in.
Customer Review: Poor fit for the Garmin 760 Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased the garmin leather carrying case along with a stand and Garmin 760 for a Christmas gift to my husband. I have a Garmin 750 and had scratched the screen when I placed in my console, so I bought two carrying cases (one for my husband and one for me). When I opened the plastic cover and took out the case, I found I could not place my Garmin in the case without forcing it in. It is such a tight fit and the Garmin really doesn"t fit all the way in it. I am sure it will tear if I used this case.
Anyway,I thought the new Garmin might be sleeker and fit better than mine since the case was offered when I purchased the Garmin from Amazon. Low and behold, my husband's new Garmin is identical in size to mine and fits just as poorly. Why was this cas offered with a Garmin when the fit is such a poor one? I am now out over $30.00 because I opened one plastic package, and it is 10 days past the 15-day window for return. I am not at all happy about this purchase.
Customer Review: Decent Case But Not Worth $20 Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this case for my newly purchased Garmin Nuvi 765t and would buy it again because it does what its supposed to protect the unit. Albeit it defiantly cost more then it should I really think this should be a $10 item but unfortunately i you want to protect your GPS you need to overpay for a case.
-----Pros-----
Snug fit ( maybe a little too snug )
Protects unit which is what it is supposed to do
Compact and easily transportable
decent build quality
-----Cons-----
Sometimes a little hard to get out of case because of the tight fit
Is expensive for case such as this
Overall if your paranoid and/or just like to protect your device and not want to worry about the screen getting smashed or damaged by other sharp things then this should work fine for you and I would recommend this though I only wish the retail price was $10 on amazon you get close to this so its a pretty good deal.
