Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Garmin 3.5-Inch Carrying CaseCustomer Review: DECENT CARRYING CASE... Summary: 3 Stars
The Garmin leather carrying case is a decent travel compainion and a perfect fit for the Nuvi 370, 360, 350, 310, 300 and also the new 270, 250, and 200.
After purchasing the new Garmin Nuvi 200, and quickly realizing it didn't come with a carrying case, I purchased this product. The quality black leather make this both appealing to the eye and durable however this is a slide-type case, so it is constantly open on one end. A nice feature would have been some type of zipper or velcro closure so the Garmin GPS unit could be fully enveloped within the case. It has a snug fit so I haven't had any problems with it slipping out yet but I do find myself constantly checking to make sure my Nuvi 200 is properly placed inside the case.
I would have preferred a little more padding with it too. The case is made up of thin leather on all sides with very little padding to protect against accidental drops. It would have been nice to have some more cushion for those clusmy moments we've all expercienced.
This case seems to be designed more for protection against scratches and to shield the LCD screen against accidental scrapes.
Still, I give this carrying case three stars because of it's price, duarability, and sleek leather appearance.
Customer Review: Pretty, but your GPS will fall out of this case Summary: 1 Stars
I own two Garmin Nuvi's a 670 and 765. This particular case came as standard equipment with the 670. The first one allowed that 670 to drop out of the case if the open end was ever pointed anywhere near down. Gravity pulled that GPS out of there many times. I lost the original equpiment one, and replaced it with a newer version of this case. The GPS fit was a bit more snug, but the GPS could still slip out.
If you always carry your GPS with the open end of the case between parallel and vertical to the ground, this is a gorgeous useful case. If you are like most people, and sometimes let things go random directions, well your GPS will land on the floor.
In addition, the little open pouch you see on the front of this unit, absolutely nothing fits inside there. I think you might get a piece of paper to fit in there, but certainly no SD cards (unless you want this hideous bulge on the outside of the case). That is certainly a major waste of fine leather.
One positive thing about this case, the leather is nice.
Look for the Garmin carrying case with the flap. That one will never ever let your GPS fall out.
Customer Review: I was also duped into buying this Summary: 1 Stars
I was also duped into buying this case for my Nuvi 760. I specifically listed my product to make sure that I got the correct case. This case came up as the for my unit. It stated it was for the Nuvi Series.
I just received it yesterday. I haven't even opened the packaging and can already tell that it is not going to fit.
I went back to Amazon's website and re-entered the information. Again this case came up for the Nuvi 760. Normally I read the reviews first before I purchase. Since I had done a lengthy search on the GPS units, I didn't bother to check for reviews on the case.
I think everyone that was mislead should contact Garmin and let them know what is being done on this website. Maybe then they will list the correct products. Should avoid having a lot of upset and angry customers.
Trying to return and purchase the correct one (which specifies it is for the Nuvi 660) is not only a hassle but costly.
Amazon is turning into another EBay. Guess I will shop elsewhere. I may pay a little more but I will probably receive the correct item ordered.
Customer Review: They send the WRONG Carrying Case! Summary: 1 Stars
This is a terrible shopping experience!
I purchased a GPS and carrying case from Amazon, in the United States, and went to pick it up the day I was leaving for Panama.
They sent the WRONG carrying case! The GPS unit sticks out over an inch, and exposes the screen to scratches and other damage. It is absolutely worthless to me.
So now I have a case that is worthless, and worse yet, I have to start searching for a new one here in Panama--because I sure as heck won't trust Amazon to ship me the right one!
What a screwed up order!
My time is too valuable to spend it on shipping this case back, and reordering the right case for my unit. And then shipping THAT case to me here in Panama. A HUGE waste of valuable time!
I sure wish they would have gotten it right the first time!
Buyer beware. Buy your carrying case AFTER you get your GPS!
ps: They wouldn't let me select ZERO stars in this review, so I had to give it one star. It doesn't deserve even that!
Customer Review: Wrong case for 200W! Summary: 1 Stars
To be accurate this is not a review of the case itself but a red flag to all you Garmin widescreen GPS owners. Both Amazon and ANTonline recommend this case for the 4.3 widescreen unit when it's at east 3/4" to short to protect the screen. I informed both Amazon and ANTOnline and they still have not corrected the recommendation. So people are buying it
with the wrong impression. I tried to have ANTOnline either accept it back as a return or an exchange for the correct case (see Garmin website for the correct case)but they ignored all my requests until they finally emailed me to tell me they contacted Garmin who will work with me to correct the matter. Regardless of why Garmin should be responsible for their mistake, I called Garmin and asked them if ANTOnline had contacted them.
They claimed they never heard from them but were willing to send me the correct case for free. So within a week's time I received my new case from Garmin. Three cheers for Garmin! Three boos for Amazon and ANTOnline.
