Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of GARMIN 010-10454-00 Handlebar Bike Mount (for GPSMAP 60 Series)Customer Review: Works well. Good price. Summary: 5 Stars
I've taken several rides now (road and dirt). It's great -- a previous poster recommended using the garmin unit's lanyard as a safety and another recommended a livestrong bracelet as additional security. I do both, but the bike mount has never let go, and I've been on some really rugged terrain. I have several bikes, and switching it from one to another takes about 3 minutes.... that said, they're cheap enough that I think I'll buy another one anyway. Review by Kevin Penner
Customer Review: Buy a RAM mount instead. Summary: 3 Stars
I've had a few different Garmin mounts (GPS 5, 60CXs and Nuvi 660) and then discovered the RAM mounts. They are far superior in build quality and strength. I have the RAM mounts in my car, on my motorcycle and on my mountain bike and they never move - ever. They cost about twice what this mount costs but they are definitley worth the price. Check out GPS City or equivalent for ideas. $10 extra is a small price to pay for a $350 unit NOT to fall off your windshied or bike!
Customer Review: Study and useful to bike with my GPS Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this bike mount so that I could use my hand-held GPS as an odometer to track how far I ride. I have used it a few times now and I'm very happy with it. It was easy to attach to the bike and it is simple to put the GPS unit in and out of it. As an extra precaution I loop the strap of my receiver over the handlebar before locking the unit into the cradle. So far I have not had the unit come lose while riding but it's a good idea for a little "insurance".
Customer Review: Fragile Product Summary: 1 Stars
I used this product on my road bicycle. It's a terribly fragile. After a few hundred miles of use, the top loop on the mount cracked, allowing my 60csx to pop out. That's when I learned the trick of using the wrist strap on the GPS unit as a backup.
Thinking it might be a fluke, I tried another one. (Thank you REI!) It broke the same way. So did the one after that.
Now I just carry the unit in my back pocket. :-(
Customer Review: Motorcycle GPS holder. Summary: 5 Stars
I've used my GPS while on my cycle, and it's really quite a dangerous challenge. Try to hold the GPS and steer, shift, brake, turn...all with one hand. This holder, which I just received, looks like the answer to a real need. It will attach my GPS to the handlebar where I can see it as I ride, and allow me to remove it with a press of a button. The base of the holder stays on the bike, and is so small as to not even be noticed by passers-by.
