I believe you have to rate products based on what you pay for them, and this product rates as excellent for the price. An antenna to deliver stations in poor reception areas. Well built and easy to take along. It is no Bose but then I paid less than $50.00 for the unit. It can fill in as an emergency radio because it operates on batteries. And my wife, for whom the item was purchased loves the color and design. It works great as an ipod dock and the footprint allows it to be placed in areas most units won't fit. The tuning dial is small and difficult to read but everyone that used it knows where there stations are by touch so it has not been a problem for us. Lacking the head phone jack was a big dissapointament, but them again I paid less than $50.00 for the unitCustomer Review: Great little boombox

This is a great docking station, and nice little boombox. The sound might not be the most epic, but for the price it can't be beat.
In comparison to other iPod speaker systems a great deal for the sound it does put out. Our family has four iPods, and absolutely love the convenience this radio offers. We have two of these units now, a blue one and a pink one, and never regretted out decision, not for a minute.
If your looking for an economical and inexpensive charging/speaker system, look no further. Not only that, but its stylish, and keeps the iPod protected while docked, which most docks do not do. What more can you ask for? Maybe better sound quality, but your not going to get that for this price point.

This product has a tremendous value. I wasn't sure what I was going to receive due to some of the negative reviews I read, but was more than pleasantly surprised the first time I turned this on. My girlfriend uses it in the bathroom to get ready every morning and takes it to the beach for portable sound. The sound is crisp from low to high volumes regardless of what other reviews says. I have a different Ipod docking station that I use in the garage and paid 4 times as much for it. The quality in sound and the achievable volume level of this product far surpasses that of mine. I would defenitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a portable ipod docking station.Customer Review: Bad Sound Quality

The sound quality on this is really, really bad. When I play my ipod, there's static and/or buzzing on every song, even at low volume. Don't even try to play it at a higher volume! My ipod plays fine everywhere else so I know it's the boombox.
I had to return two other ilive radios, a black, slightly different version of this one that had worse sound quality and a cord that didn't connect right, and also a green version of this ilive radio from ebay that didn't work at all! I am having bad luck with this particular brand and I won't be purchasing anything from them again. Thankfully Amazon has an easy return policy.

We bought this for our 11 year old daughter and it's perfect for her. It is portable, provides good sound and also charges while the IPod is docked. This IPod dock is a good value for the price. It can be plugged into the wall or run on batteries. It has several IPod adapters and even has a jack for video output. If your looking for more serious sound quality (with less portability) I would recommed the iLive IHT3817DT which we purchased for our older daughter.iLive 2.1-Channel Speaker Bar with iPod Dock (Black)
