I have been running this dehumidifier for a few months now in my basement and have had no trouble with it at all. The fan and compressor are fairly quiet and I don't even notice when it's running when I'm not in the basement. I'm not sure of its energy consumption since I haven't connected a watt meter to it or anything but it doesn't seem to be too much of an energy hog. I have an old piece of garden hose attached to the drain on the back of the machine which allows the water to go directly into my sump crock which is convenient. The house is new but so far the basement hasn't gotten that musky, mildew smell and I hope that using this product helps prevent that for as long as possible.
