Customer Review: Lightweight and Flimsy

I ordered this to replace an old DVD player because of the low price and many positive ratings, but have been extremely disappointed with the unit. The fact that the inner (product) box arrived covered in a thick layer of what appeared to be black dust or soot, as if it had been sitting in a coal mine for months was a little off-putting but the problem is with the unit itself. It's extremely lightweight and flimsy. The DVD tray actually wobbles when opening or closing and I have to be very careful when placing a disc in it or it will not seat properly and stick. It feels so unstable that I fear it won't last long. The unit plays all right once the disc is seated properly but the remote control is a nightmare. The entire unit feels more like a toy than any player I've had previously but the remote is like an especially cheap and poorly designed toy. Exactly whose hands was this thing meant to be used by? I have normal-sized hands but I feel like Gulliver trying to use this thing. It's extremely tiny which makes hitting the right button, and only the right button, problematic (think Homer Simpson and his fat hand dialing wand). It's also shaped in what looks to be a nearly perfect rectangle, making it impossible to tell which end is up unless looking directly at it - another problem if viewing in a darkened room, which is usually the case here. The picture and sound are okay but no better than the $40 unit I purchased nearly 8 years ago.
Not happy with purchase and wish I had spent a few dollars more in a brick and mortar to get a player that doesn't feel as if it came out of a really big box of cereal. Not recommended.
