Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Franklin KID-1240 Children's Talking Dictionary and Spell CorrectorCustomer Review: Great product...even for middle schoolers Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for one of my sixth grade students who has an extensive vocabulary, but a difficult time with spelling. The spell checker is able to figure out the words he types in even though they are often missing sounds/letters that you hear in the word. I thought he might think the look of it was babyish, but he actually loves it. It is much easier than using a dictionary to look up every word and seems to be motivating for him to have a cool gadget to use during lessons.
Customer Review: great tool! Summary: 5 Stars
I am very happy with this item. Two of my kids are using it and I really am pleased with the results. It is very easy to use (my kids are 10 and 13) and there is very little learning curve. No electronic product will ever completely replace help from mom, but it's nice to have one that re-enforces my "look it up!" credo. My 13yo son has some learning disabilities and this readily helps him to bridge the gap with spelling and homonyms. Love it!!!
Customer Review: A must for any child with learning differences! Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter is almost 9 and still not reading (dyslexia characteristics and auditory processing issues). The Franklin Speaking Interactive Childrens Dictionary has given her the confidence to look up words on her own and then read them. She loves to type out sentences and then hits the speak button and it'll read the whole sentence for her.
I think this would be perfect for any special needs or non-verbal child at a very good price.
Customer Review: Very helpful! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my 9yr old son. He asked for it as a Christmas present so he could use it for school. His first day back it was helpful! He had to write his spelling words in cursive. Usually, I have to write the words in cursive first so that he can look at how it's done. Very time consuming..not last night, lol..he just typed in the words and it shows you step-by-step how it should look.
Customer Review: Talking Dictionary Summary: 5 Stars
The Franklin Children's Talking Dictionary is an excellent product. I have used it for years in my special education classroom with great success. This year I bought one for my grandson. It contains games for fun spelling practice. It also helps children pronounce unknown words by just entering the spelling and using the speak button. It's a great learning tool for both home and school.
