Customer Review: Son loves it
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this for my son who is in third grade and needs help with spelling. He loves it! He uses it as entertainment, not just for school work, looking up various words, listening to the audio and playing games with his spelling words. It works perfectly for our needs, he types in how he thinks the word is spelled and the dictionary then gives him the correct spelling and pronunciation so he can be sure it is the same as the word he intended.

Others have complained of the odd voice on the talking dictionary but it is certainly not unintelligible by any means. It has held up well with normal use, no broken parts. We are happy with this purchase.

Customer Review: Franklin KID-1240 Children's Talking Dictionary/Spell Corrector
Summary: 5 Stars

My granddaughter who is 6 just loved this talking dictionary. She is starting to read (pretty well, actually) and sometimes asks her parents what a certain word means. Also, she on occasion asks how to spell certain words. When she started using this item, she immediately loved it! It is a lot easier for a six year old to use an electronic gadget to "look up" a word than to use a dictionary. So this turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. Additionally, she loves the games, especially "Hangman". I would recommend this item to parents and grandparents as a neat gift for a 6-9 year old who is reading. It was everything I hoped it would be.

Customer Review: My little girls buddy
Summary: 5 Stars

My little girl loves this thing . She is improving quickly in reading and has it completely figured out with only a couple of minutes of me looking at it to explain it to her. We hear it going off through out the day. I hope within a year she will out grow it and be reading on her own. She also likes to type in sentences and have the talking dictionary say it to people lol.
As for me I love it ! I used to be asked what this word is or that is .. every few minutes ...now that is rare.
She has been using it for a few weeks and it still looks to be in great shape (for the durability- she is a girl ... my boys may have busted it by now)

Customer Review: Working well for us
Summary: 4 Stars

We have used this for about a month and it has been working fine for my 5 and 6 year old. The best feature for us is being able to put in their spelling word lists and using those lists to play the games with. It has really helped. Also, my daughter does not like to be corrected and with the speaking button, the computer corrects her instead of me-she handles that a lot better.
The cover seems a bit flimsy, but so far it hasn't broken. It has a self shutoff so we are still on the first set of batteries as well. This seems to be a good item for their age. I can see them growing out of it once they start reading more difficult books.

Customer Review: Great for my Daughter!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this for my daughter, who has been slow to read, she is 7. It is a great product. She can read independantly and if she comes to a word she doesn't know she will type it in and the dictionary will say the word for her. We can also put in a list of words for her to learn and she can do games with those words and practice them. My three year old even learned how to type in his name! For the level she is at it is a great product. It is not a full Webster's dictonary and I didn't expect it to be. It does what I needed it to do. Tell her what the unknown word is she's reading, without me having to be with her every minute.
