Customer Review: Great Videos, trouble with USB connection UPDATE, Latest Update

I love this camcorder, the size is perfect, ease of use, quality of the videos is great, the sound is great too. The one problem I have been experiencing is with the connection to the USB port and the camcorder being recognized by the computer. The "arm" seems to be really touchy and a slight movement one way or the other can make or lose the connection. It's not the computer because, I eventually, after using 3 different USB ports, front and back of tower, was able to upload my videos. This happens each time I try to upload the videos. Once I get them uploaded to my computer, there is no problem. It works great uploading them to AOL's video site, making it easy to share videos with others. If I could just get the "touchy" part of the arm resolved, I would give this a 5 star rating. I did contact the company and they offered to have me mail in my camcorder so they can try to see if a repair needs to be made, but since I need the camcorder right now, I am holding off on that offer. If the problem persists, I will see if they can repair it and update my review.
UPDATE, Sept. 2008
I did have to send my Flip camcorder in to have it fixed as it would no longer upload any videos that I took while on vacation. The problem seemed to be with a "touchy" arm to USB. Due to the nature of the problem, I received a brand new Flip camcorder, with a letter of apology from the company, for the problems I had. They included a CD of the videos that were still on the camcorder but I could not upload. I am very grateful for that, although the color was bad on every video. I do not know if that was due to the problems in general, or in the copying them to the CD. Past videos I had taken, had excellent color and sound. I have not tried the new Flip camcorder that was sent to me, but I am confident that it will work just fine. I didn't have to pay for anything other than postage to ship it to them. I was impressed by the quick turnaround time and the correspondence with the company as well as the very apologetic letter that came with my new Flip camcorder.

I don't know if I am just unlucky with problems with my original Flip Camcorder and the replacement camcorder, or if it just does not perform the way it is supposed to! I tried to make a "movie mix" which is an option that is offered. The movie mix does not load past 55%!! I have waited hours for it to finish, even overnight but it just won't go past that point. I bought a brand new computer and it did the same thing on that computer! Flip is good about responding to my problems but their "fixes" are not working! I have dumped this program so many times and downloaded their fixes but it still won't work. The camcorder still uploads my videos, but sorry to say, the movie mix feature does not work for me. I like the camcorder but am getting very frustrated with the problems I have had with my original and the replacement that was sent to me.
