I spent hrs reading over reviews and watching silly videos that did not
tell me the real deal about this product. Everyone will have different expectations of a product and different levels of satisfaction along with it, depending on what they were hoping for. If you want an easy camcorder to operate that is also small and convenient to film vacations, trips, parties, sex videos, etc., than this will be great for you. Now if you expect to get the same quality as those fancy camcorders and want to use this for "serious" filming than get out of here.
Don't listen to these 3s, 2s, and 1s... Look, here's the deal with this product: This is a great camcorder but there's still room for improvement, which means it's not perfect yet and thus does not deserve a 5-star rating. Certain things that could be improved in this product are: - Smaller size (yes it's already small but hey, look at computers from 10 yrs ago!)
- Better software (The "movie mixes" feature doesn't really work + other minor stuff)
- Better quality pouch (PLEASE do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy the case they're selling for $12. I can't believe an executive could approve such a product. What happened to QUALITY CONTROL?) Anyway, the black pouch that comes with the product is fine except that the velvet on it will start to turn into dust that actually penetrates into your camera's display. Now I have little micro dots of black stuff in there and there's no way to get it out. Try to get another one...
- A slot for a memory card (this would be a HUGE improvement)
- An upgrade on the zoom feature. This one sucks! It's digital zoom only, so if you zoom in at all it turns out grainy and with no contrast.
NO TIME TO WASTE, READ THIS:
Now, concerning all the feedback over the red record button: from some reviews I thought I'd be dealing here with that microscopic "reset" button in certain electronic devices, or that I'd have to grown my nails in preparation. BS! Unless you're related to Shrek the button needs no upgrade, it's perfect as it is and very easy to operate.
There's no way you'll delete all your movies unless you really want to. Anyone that did it was bc they didn't know what they were doing. You need to HOLD the button for a while and THEN confirm it. Sorry for all you less inclined towards electronics, but that's not the product's fault.
The recordings at night are a little grainy without proper lighting, but hey, what did you expect?
Do not even try to zoom in with this camcorder, you'll regret it.
The video is actually pretty decent. The playback pretty cool, and the device captures sounds pretty well too. For the price this is great!
Size is not an issue. Fits in a guys pocket without too much problem. I even dropped the camera when I went to Vegas and nothing but a small scratch came out of it. Pretty sturdy little thing.
USB is sweeeeet. This thing doesn't look like it's going to brake any soon. I'm not bothering with extra cables and extra money!
You'll be using regular batteries for this camcorder. Great idea on part of the creators. Your only issue might be space, but not power. This thing uses up a whole pair though for the hour of usage... ouch. I bought some Sony rechargeable batteries for an affordable price at AMAZON to take care of that.
Hey, one hour MIGHT sound like it's not enough but it really is. That's a lot of filming if you ask me. I wouldn't worry about it.
Reviews will usually adjust themselves to the most accurate rating of a product, which in this case is a four. If you don't have the patience to wait (like me) for the next model (which will be overpriced) and you'd rather have a camcorder rather than none then go for it! Don't let that next trip go by "unfilmed"! Hope that was helpful :)
