Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Flip Video TripodCustomer Review: Pain in the butt to set the camera angle right on this tripod Summary: 2 Stars
Though it is quick to attach and detach from the camera, it takes a long time to set your camera at the angle you want it using this tripod. Almost all tripods allow you to attach the camera, set up the legs, and then quickly and precisely point the camera and lock a mechanism at the top of the tripod in place. Not this tripod. To set the angle of the camera on this, you have to pick it up, re-bend the legs a little, put it down again, watch the legs bend slightly under the weight of the camera (even a very light camera like the Flip), pick it up, bend the legs a little more or less, over and over again.
Customer Review: perfect Summary: 5 Stars
I saw this and knew I needed to have it for my new flip ultra HD. I have a large tripod with legs that slide down, but it's large and cumbersome. This is perfect to tote around anywhere, since the legs bend down and it becomes quite compact.
This tripod distributes the weight of the flip evenly and is also easy to adjust to point it any which way you want. Some tripods will feel like if the wind blows, it could knock over. Not with this. I was confident in leaving it without watching it like a hawk. Bendy legs, but the bottom of them are rubbery, so they don't slide. Great tripod, a must have.
Customer Review: Great idea, execution comes up a bit short! Summary: 3 Stars
Excellent idea. I have easily carried this with me on hikes and have used it to include myself in shots by placing on logs and hanging from saplings.
Where it comes up a little short is that the leg joints don't quite articulate enough or "lock" quite enough to easily grab onto things. Same problem with using it just as a tripod, as the closest joints to the mount don't flex enough to make an easy tripod configuration. You have to be careful, whether gripping onto things or standing it up, to make sure you have your grip or perch solid enough.
Otherwise, love it!
Customer Review: Nifty little device Summary: 5 Stars
This is a brilliantly simple and effective device (much like the Flip Camera). I was afraid it would be weak and spindly, but was pleasently surprised by how strong and firm of a support system the flexible legs make. It feels incredibly durable.
The legs are easy to quickly conform to any unlevel surface and have not broke down or "unbent" causing the camera to shift or fall despite setting up some weird surfaces. Its small size makes it easy to carry. This is a must have accessory.
This product was designed in the United States but manufactured in China.
Customer Review: Don't use with Flip Summary: 3 Stars
I recently bought a Flip Ultra HD which is nice except for the lack of image stabilization. So I figured a small tripod was in order. The problem with this product is that it is too flimsy to work with the Flip Video unit. The Flip makes this tripod much to top heavy which makes it topple over with even the slightest of vertical adjustments. Luckily it works fine for a small Sony cybershot that I have had for some time. If you are looking for a mini-tripod for any Flip Video recorder, I highly suggest you find one that is slightly larger and heavier to stabilize the Flip unit.
