Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Flip Video Tripod

Customer Review: Flipping over Flip MinoHD
Summary: 5 Stars

The Flip MinoHD is a fine product for basic video. It is easy to use and can be started up quickly to get those "special" moments. I give it five stars despite a couple minor problems. The audio could be better and the 2x digital zoom is lousy. But if you want to make art, a more expensive camera is in order. If you want to get people hanging around at your party or baby's first steps, this is superb. I also use it professionally as a communications trainer. If I am working with a client, sometimes they may not realize how they are coming across. I will take the Flip MinoHD out, shoot and play back in my computer all in a very short time. I recommend this to anyone. I also recommend one of those inexpensive mini-tripods.

Customer Review: Don't waste your money!
Summary: 1 Stars

I don't like to write negative reviews unless I feel strongly, but this tripod is not worth the money at all. I bought it for a class where we have to tape conversations a few feet away, so I thought it would be perfect, but first, the mount on the flip is off to the side, so it leans to one side and while you can account for that with the legs of the tripod, the legs on this tripod are barely flexible and the black paint comes off on your hands and flakes all over the tabletop that it is sitting on.

I tried to return it, but it was going to cost 5 dollars to return it and it was too much of a hassle. I'm disappointed in this product and in amazon. Don't waste your money, buy a better tripod for less money elsewhere.

Customer Review: 15 bucks for this tiny thing...?
Summary: 3 Stars

Honestly this thing is pretty silly. Yeah, its pretty much a necessary purchase if you plan on making vblogs with the Mino or any other sort of video where you need it to be still... I'm not upset with the product. However, you will laugh when you how small this thing is. I think calling this a tripod is a bit misleading... Mini tripod is more like it. Its barely any taller then the mino itself. Never the less.. it does its job well and the bendy legs help with certain surfaces. The price is awful though. 15 dollars for this? There is a 3rd party version that is exactly the same for 3 dollars.. i'd say grab that one instead if you get the chance. This is a over-priced, small accessory that at least does it's job well.

Customer Review: It works, but it could be better
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased this tripod for my Flip UltraHD to record my accordion videos for YouTube. I found the legs to be a bit short. I had to position the tripod on a box on a table to get the right height for viewing me sitting on a chair. I also wish that the flexible tubing was a bit wider diameter and stronger. I suppose that would add to the overall weight. The camera will fall over if the legs are not absolutely balanced. It takes some fussing around to get the camera positioned just right. I prefer the tilting mount on my standard tripod. However, one use for this tripod is to fold the legs together and hold it as a grip while making hand-held movies. I do that all the time. So I am getting practical use from it.

Customer Review: A must-buy for the Flip
Summary: 5 Stars

Do yourself a favor and buy this mini-tripod for the Flip. Compared to what I spent on the actual Flip, this mini-tripod is a bargain and it really helps keep my videos from being too shaky. To use it, you screw it on to the bottom of the Flip and then adjust the 3 bendable legs into whatever position you want them to be in. For storage, the 3 legs also fold straight and tight so it doesn't take up a lot of room in your bag. One surprise I found that I hadn't thought about before was that there isn't always a good place to put the tripod to get the perfect angle for your video. So, I learned to just stack things up like books or boxes and place the tripod on top of that and then the angle is fine.
