Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Flip Video TripodCustomer Review: Handy little extra for the Flip Ultra. Summary: 5 Stars
We picked up the Flip camcorder for my daughter Jessica Mellott, who is a pop singer. She wanted something simple to use to make videos for her Myspace and Youtube. The Flip is super easy, just press and record. To make it even easier we picked up the Flip Tripod accessory.
The tripod is small about 5 inches long and about 1/2 inch wide when closed. Opened it boasts flexible legs that bend to help you position the Flip so its easier to record yourself. The top screws easily into the tripod hole on the bottom of the Flip camcorder. Note the Flip tripod fits the bottom of the Flip Ultra camcorder only. There is no hole for the tripod in the regular Flip.
The tripod is packaged with black padded "feet" so it will not scratch your furniture. Included with the tripod are 4 sets of extra "feet" in hot pink, orange, white and yellow to match the different colors the Flip Ultra comes in.
With the help of the tripod, recording with the Flip is even easier and replaces an unsteady hand and makes adjusting the position of the camcorder more flexible.
A great little gadget for your Ultra Flip!

Customer Review: Nice accessory for your Flip cam Summary: 4 Stars
I lucked out and picked one of these up for under five dollars. Sturdy construction, easy to manipulate tripod legs, secure screw-in type connection to the Flip cam and you can jazz it up with a splash of color if you like - using one of the extra sets of rubber shoes for the tripod's legs.
It does have limited uses, as it's not very big - about 6" tall, but the legs are very mailable and it's easy to set up the camera so that you can get shots at eye level, up or down. I'm not fond of the placement of the screw-in to the Flip cam (on the bottom, side - not centered - on the base of the cam). Overall this would have been much more stable with that attachment in the center, but the bendable legs seem to adjust well for the problem where stiff tripod legs would make things imbalanced.
Overall, I would suggest it to anyone who needs 'hands free' operation or who would like to jump into the action being recorded versus always being behind the scenes running the camera.
Customer Review: Keep expectations to a minimum Summary: 4 Stars
As a standard tripod, it does everything you ask of it. It stands up, and keeps your Flip still. Just don't let your expectations get the better of you.
As for flexibility, it's capabilities are low. If you expect to be able to attach it to crazy places and expect it to stay with ease, while you film away, you're going to be disappointed. While it is useful for more than just standing upright, the possibilities are limited as the legs aren't the strongest grip around.
One thing to consider, is that if you have a Flip Ultra, it's not as easy to balance out with the weight of the camera, as the attachment 'port' isn't centered on the bottom. That's not to say that it's impossible to balance, you just have to work out the right leg angles to keep it steady and level.
All in all, it's exactly what I needed, just wished it was more versatile.
Customer Review: Should be Required Summary: 4 Stars
I bought a Flip Ultra HD for Christmas (and love it) and this tripod for use when filming my kid's events (awards, etc). What I found was that this tripod is for every day use. Since the Flip camera's don't have image stabilization setting your camera down and using the flexible (bendable) legs to set the angle produces a much better video.
The tripod is well made, sturdy and very small. The only concern I have with it is that the tripod screws on to the Flip off-center on the bottom. It seems like the tripod should screw in the Flip in the center of the bottom, making it more stable. What I found was that in certain situations (like when I set up the Flip on the top of my couch for presents) that the Flip tipped over too easily. This isn't a problem on level surfaces, though.
If you buy a Flip this is a definite must have accessory.
Customer Review: Acceptable tripod Summary: 4 Stars
This little tripod is useful for some situations. I like the flexibility of the legs, the compact size that makes it easy to take along with the flip mino video camera. The small size that makes it very portable in one respect, has drawbacks in another respect. If I prop the camera on a table or counter to take a group photo, for example, the short legs cut off the tops of the heads in the photo. If I place it higher on an average, eye-level shelf, I have to bend the camera forward to get the shot and it tips because the legs are too short in proportion to the tilt. But it's good if you are taking shots in a controlled situation. I would buy it again, along with a large tripod for serious videos.Flip Tripod for Flip Ultra and Mino Camcorders
