Customer Review: Tough and easy
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had this camera about three months. While the picture quality isn't as good as my 3ccd camcorder the Flip suffices for TV displays. All the software for PC and Mac resides on the camera. The USB connector is part of the camera and flips (thus the name) out to plug into a computer port. It's so easy to use that's it's sort of the iPod of the camcorder business. My four year old grandson has taken some pretty good videos on it with minimal instruction. It fell twice off a four foot table to concrete and it still runs. The second time the plastic case separated, but I easily snapped it back in place. I'm more careful now, but it's nice to know that you don't have to worry too much about damage. It uses two AA batteries and they last over an hour, or the time it takes to fill its 1GB internal memory. No zoom, but, if you've watched enough amateur home movies with zoom, you'll avoid zoom nausea.

Customer Review: The perfect gift for my 12-year old
Summary: 5 Stars

My 12-year old Daughter wanted a video camera for her birthday because I had recently purchased one for myself. I didn't think she was ready for a camcorder, plus I didn't want to spend $300. This was the perfect solution. I paid just over $100. and this thing is amazing. The picture and sound surprised me at how crisp and clear they were. We went to dinner and then to the mall and she was shooting bits and pieces here and there. At the end of the day, she used the 'Classic' selection to edit it all into one video clip. We were blown away by the finished product. It turned those clips into one beautiful video with music playing in the background. It's as if the camera had a mind of it's own as it seemed to highlight the most important scenes. She absolutely loves it and I was so impressed, I may buy my older 2 kids their own for Christmas. Great product and a great price!

Customer Review: GREAT item, BUT...
Summary: 4 Stars

Item received in a timely fashion, which was important because I was traveling between military bases, BUT I was not happy with the fact that it did not come with a manual. Yes, you can "point, shoot and view," but it took quite a bit of figuring to know how to snap pics from video, figure out it would be 3x faster if it was transferred into a "movie" format before uploading, etc... I still don't know if I add music will it over-ride words. Also, I am UNHAPPY with the fact that all though I have marked all mine private, that has not been the case... PLEASE NOTE that none of these things have anything to do with the company from whom I purchased it. I would rate their processing and expediting the order A+. My complaints have to do with the manufacturer. I would gladly have paid more for a manual to have been included or be accessible online in adobe format, etc.

Customer Review: the Kodak Brownie of home video
Summary: 4 Stars

A while back I posted a not so flattering review of the Panasonic VDR-MD70; I thought that for the price the media was unreliable, user interface was lacking and video quality was inferior. This is the exact opposite! For the price, the media (about 1GB compact flash for the 60 min version) is solid. It boots up in no time, has better picture quality and is about a quarter the price. The only problem I've had is that it's easy to overdrive/distort the sound if things are a bit loud. In a point and shoot video toy, a simple built in limiter would have been helpfull (the only reason it's not 5 stars). I don't use the digital zoom, I just move closer. We've taken more footage with this thing in a couple of weeks than we did in over a year with the Panasonic. It's not the tool for your next indie film, but for those quaint home snaps of the toddlers, it can't be beat.

Customer Review: Be careful what you say!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this for an upcoming trip overseas where I will be meeting family for the first time. Since my mother is elderly, I thought it would be nice to take some short videos for her. I did not want to schlep a huge video camera in my baggage so I thought this would be the perfect size. The pictures are pretty good--not top shelf, but adequate. When panning across a scene do it slowly as it tends to blur if you move too quickly.Views well on a TV set with the enclosed cables. Battery life seems to be very good. I have not replaced the batteries yet. The microphone is extremely sensitive and will pick up anything you, the camera operator will say--even your breathing! So keep in mind to hold the camera a little away from your face when you are recording! And don't talk under your breath as it will pick it up! Other than that, it's a totally cool little unit.
