I bought this as a Christmas present for my 60-year-old father. I told him to open my present first so he'd be able to record the rest of the morning. He just popped in some batteries and, voilà!, a couple of hours later he was posting videos on YouTube. I connected the camcorder to the TV so everyone was able to watch it. Needless to say, it's easy to use, fun, and relatively inexpensive.
Zoom quality isn't the greatest and the colors are a bit desaturated in overcast weather conditions, but that's to be expected from such an inexpensive camcorder.
I definitely recommend this product for anyone wishing to record good times with their friends and family with ease.

Ok it's christmas morning. I open up the camera, take some family videos. Works fine I try to download them to my mac - which is in specifications. I'm running 10.4. bogs down, spinning icon, nothing - locks up the machine.
I try another mac that has more disk space (try the obvious) same issues.
I go to the flip phone site - guess what, it reports it needs new firmware which isn't available until sometime in jan. (no specific date)
Companies that sell you things in December that they know don't work / won't work until jan. should be taught a lesson.

I purchased this camera because it was simple and compact. However, it may be too simple. I took the camera on my trip to Italy. After three weeks of shooting, I realized I had gone slightly beyond the 60 minutes (by 2 minutes). Instead of automatically stopping the process, it deleted my entire film except for those two minutes. When shooting outdoors, the glare of the sun does not allow you to read the settings. In addition, the instruction book makes no mention of this factor. I cannot express how disappointed I was to not have the film I shot over three weeks. There should be a feature that stops the filming when the 60 minutes is up and allows you to reset when you are ready.Customer Review: simplicity and convenience in small package

I bought the Flip Video camera as a gift for my daughter, entering high school. I have found myself grabbing the Flip video instead of my larger(more expensive) videocam. It is easy to use, very compact, and takes good quality video for a camera of this size/price. The camera downloads videos in a snap. It is very intuitive and a real bargain at this price. We have enjoyed this camera, bringing it along when a larger camera would be a hassle. The kids also fancy themselves moviemakers now :-) I would suggest going for the 60 minute version, in order to have more time between downloads. You will be surprised how often you use this, due to the size and convenience.Customer Review: Great little product

Purchased this after reading fantastic reviews about it in the Wall Street Journal and School Library Journal. I was not disappointed. At the moment I've loaned it out because all the teachers at the college where I work want to borrow it. The lab professor plans to purchase some for his lab. It's because the quality is good and even a fifty-year-old can figure it out. It's that easy. I wish all new products were this simple. I have the first product and would like to try the newer one with the zoom lens but I'm pleased with having such a light-weight easy-to-use video cam that anyone can figure out and use. Audio records well too. I highly recommend it.
