Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Flip Ultra Video Camera - White, 4 GB, 2 Hours (2nd Generation) OLD MODELCustomer Review: Totally in love. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this little winner to record a ceremony (memorial) for my Dad, and it worked beautifully! Not only did I get great picture and sound, it was easy to use and easy to share. Setup was minimal and I was recording in no time. The FlipShare software is almost foolproof to anyone who has used a computer before, and on the first use, I was able to email the videos and post them to Facebook. Very user friendly, compact and portable, and for a klutz like me, not so expensive that I am too paranoid to use (read: drop and break) it. I can't wait to use it more!
BTW, I didn't give the battery life any stars because I only got this yesterday!
Customer Review: One of the best purchases for us! Summary: 4 Stars
We never used our big old camcordered because it was too much of a hassle but with this we take videos everywhere all the time. We have taken more videos in the last three months than we did in the whole previous five years. I have continued to recommend it to all of my friends. Plus you can take snapshots from your videos, so if we forgot the regular camera we can still make pictures from the video! We got it for a great steal for $90 but it would have been worth every penny at $135. It would have got 5-stars from me, but it is difficult to import the photos and videos to other software on your computer like windows movie maker.
Customer Review: great for young students! Summary: 4 Stars
I bought five of these cameras for my 7th and 9th grade tech/comms classes so students could make movies. So far they've worked great. They're easy for 12-14 year olds to just pick up and use to make movies during class. They're cheap enough that I don't have to be paranoid, and I can buy enough to let the students work in smaller groups.
The flip-out USB is nice. Sometimes it's a little tricky to get the computer to recognize it, but otherwise they work with my Mac as well as the PC's loaded with Adobe Premier Elements.
Working with Premier Elements on these lousy school computers is another matter...
Customer Review: Must Have for any Parent! Summary: 5 Stars
I have 3 kids and I find myself taking millions of pictures of my kids but not as many videos. The camcorder we have is bulky and recording on my camera eats up a lot of memory. I decided to buy the Flip. I love it. It's so user friendly, anyone can operate it. You don't have to be a technical genius to learn to use it. There are very few commands unlike the camcorders with a thick manual of info. You can't go wrong and you'll have videos of your kids in no time. I always have mine on hand so I can capture my kids' funny moments, birthday songs, anything. Makes it easier to share the videos with friends and family too.
Customer Review: Flip'n Flip Summary: 3 Stars
The product is cool but it has a couple of design flaws in my opinion. 1) My computer is a new HP desktop that has a door on the front to access the extra usb ports. When you flip out the usb plug on the side of the "Flip" you can not plug it in due to the door. If the usp flipped at the top instead of the side it would work. I have to use a wire which kind of defeats the whole flip thing. I guess it is great if you just use a laptop (notice all their advertisements are with a laptiop). 2) The way the lens puches out makes it easy to crack without any major effort. We are now on our second Flip after one day of usage.
