I bought the flip video ultra cam for a great price here at Amazon. ($59) I wanted something that I could use to take small clips because I like to create videos with pictures and live video. It's small, fit in my purse was so easy to use and so easy to hook up to my computer. The software within the cam was great, too. I was amazed at how well it picked up sound. I had someone use it to video a performance at my church and they were sitting a good 50 ft away and it picked up the sound so well. A little trick to know is that even if you delete the video off the camera itself you need to go in and save the video on your computer and then empty the trash within the software; otherwise your camera will fill up the 30 minutes pretty quickly.
One of my friends has a five year old daughter and this camera was easy enough for her to use.
Unfortunately, I only had this cam for a few weeks and someone broke into my house stole my purse so now it's gone. If I buy another one I'd probably buy the one with 60 minutes. I would highly recommend this camera.

I have been using this camcorder for several months now, mostly at rock concerts. The quality of video this records is average, and the sound quality is poor. I have found this camcorder is best used for filming close-up shots where there is very little background noise. The Flip camcorder is very easy to use, but the button for starting and stopping a recording is very hard to push. This leads to shaky filming when attempting to start or stop a recording.
The thing I like most about this camcorder is its size. It easily fits into a shirt or pants pocket. Another great feature is the built-in USB port for connecting directly to your computer for easy downloading (no need to connect with a cable). My MacBook has froze up several times when attempting to download clips. I assume this is a flaw in the Flip video software for Mac because my MacBook never freezes when using other programs.
In spite of the negative points I make in this review I only paid $50 for this camcorder (new, not used) and feel it is well worth this price.

This is a cheap appliance. It has glitches but it's not the end of the world for what it is; a utility. When you share on line it tends to adore itself in that it wants to advertise itself. You have to send videos for your friends to put on their YT pages to your You Tube page then share it with your friend's YT page. To send it to FaceBook you click share/other then it wants to create a desktop folder from which you can share. I don't like all kinds of things on my desktop so I let Flip have one folder. If you let it, it will create a folder everytime to do Facebook. The folders in your documents are odd as well. Your videos are numbered not the names you have given them. Still in all I do not bemoan the fact I bought this cute little camcorder. It has challenged my geekyness which I can handle. I have nice videos of my horseback riding lessons, my beautiful cat, Michel, and a couple local bands. I was able to use it right away. I still have not tried to make a DVD. I hope to get it together to try that and rewrite this review as a video!Customer Review: Good Concept, Poor Implementation

What an intriguing concept.. a handheld digital video camera for under a hundred bucks. It's implemented well in hardware, the device, the screen, everything works perfectly. And then it's time to get the get the vidoes OFF of the device and onto your computer.
Bad news. The software provided doesn't work. Crashes within moments of starting. Two hours of Google searches and I manage to get it installed on another machine long enough to reformat the camcorder, and then install an older version of the device software that's supposed to fix the problems with the latest release.
Voila! The older version installs and runs... let's try this out: Make a movie, select all, choose a theme, create mix. Adding videos: 5%, 10%, 20%... 20%... 20%... an hour later, 20%.... Oh. The program has caused a problem and needs to end. Isn't that a surprise.
It's a shame really. The device meets all my modest video needs completely, but the software supporting it is junk. Completely useless. It's going back.

This little digital camcorder is just plain slick...!
It doesn't have a couple things my old camcorder has,
but my old camcorder doesn't fit in my pants pocket.
It takes very good videos, the software is simple, and
installs upon first connection to your PC.
That is nice, no humping around a CD for install when I go to the kids house.
Videos look good on my 50" big screen so I can walk around at gatherings and then show all what I recorded before the party breaks up.
Mine is one of the older 30 minute units.
It would be nice to have a unit that runs longer, but I have yet to fill it up (30 minutes is a long time in video) and I have used only one set of AA batteries in over a month and use it every other day for business also.
I record some repair jobs I do to show other employees how certain things are done...
It would be nice to pick a resolution, to drop it lower.
Takes good pictures inside with low light also.
For an inexpensive device it is great...!
