Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Flip MinoHD Camcorder, 60 Minutes (Black)Customer Review: do not buy!!!! Junk! Summary: 1 StarsAfter we bought it in 3 months, we had the following problems:
1. it shut off by it itself, at first we thought it is out of the batteries. It is not. And we lose all the videos we took and stored in it
2. the recording time it allowed gets shorter and shorter
3. when you contact the support group, it tells you to turn it on and off 8 times (lol), of course it does not work
After bought it in 6 months, the screen is not working anymore. Now it is a piece of junk.
Customer Review: A little overrated.... Summary: 3 StarsI heard soo much about this video camera, and how awesome it is. It's a video camera yes but it's missing some important components that would be in a video camera...
It has good picture quality, but the lens dont auto-focus. It's weird. I tried changing the zoom level and it still doesnt focus in. My banged up, sony picture/video camera does that.
There arent any really awesome video taping effects like night vision. As a serious movie maker, i feel like night vision is a must in a video camera.
The software is good, but its limited. You get more out of Windows Movie Maker. Except for the fact that you can mute out the clip in Flip, there is no "movie making" jist in it. You have beggining titles, and credits....alright....
Lastly, its really innovative the way they have the usb thing intergrated right into the camera. It's really handy. Although i look at it, and it looks like that little guy is gonna break from the weight of the camera. It has no support, the camera is literaly hanging in midair, putting all its weight onto the usb plug.
So, it's a cool camera, its nice. But not if you're serious and really into video making. You cant take pictures, which is weird, i mean you wouldnt think it'd be that hard or costly, but i understand its a VIDEO CAMERA. This is more like a toy rather than an awesome camera.
Customer Review: Feels cheap, image quality is poor Summary: 1 StarsI thought the image quality was on par or worse than what I get from my cell phone. It was grainy with lots of artifacts. Low light performance is terrible. It might be worth it for $50, but not for over $100. I'm returning mine.
Customer Review: Avoid This...Unless Summary: 2 StarsThe Flip Mino HD might have been a winner had it used the same processor that the Mino Ultra used, but you end up getting more portability and paying for it in poor image quality. Don't believe me, go to YouTube and check out test videos. Here's what to watch for: 1) focusing is set for optimum distance of 2-4 feet (distant objects are fuzzy); 2) color is far too bluish, and this will make it even worse for overcast days; 3) rechargeable battery is a Li-ion battery and is not replaceable, and 4) there is no stability features. The Flip Ultra HD is vastly superior and takes 2 AA rechargeable batteries, has the newer processor, though focusing is still optimized for close-ups. Image quality of the Ultra is vastly superior and you can get the Ultra for $150. The Mino HD, here, is presently $119. I'd pay the extra for the Ultra.
Customer Review: USB output is too small to fit my mack book pro USB Summary: 1 StarsTitle says it all and no I was not putting it in upside down. The MinoHD USB output is physically to small. It must be a design error.
