Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Fellowes Powershred W-11C 11 Sheet Cross-Cut Shredder (3103201)Customer Review: Fellowes Powershredder W-11C Summary: 4 Stars
I have tried numerous shredders, first bought from office supply stores, but these run for about 10-15 minutes and then shut down for 15-30 minutes. NOT PRACTICAL. Then I started buying ones from Target, and they run on and on after one sheet and within a few months bind up and die on me. I have the Fellowes DM12C+ shredder at work and it is a work horse. I decided to bite the bullet and get a good shredder for home use. I was surprised by the cost of this W-11C as it was much cheaper than I had expected but the reviews were good so I decided to try it. Runs great, shreds into very small pieces, runs quieter than the cheapos and shuts right off after it shreds the paper. I run my home one hard the first of every year as I am shredding all my files from 10 years back while making up the new year's files. This one ran for hours with no problems. People might think it is loud, but it is a shredder, it is going to make some noise. Even then, it is much quieter than the previous models I had purchased. A good buy for a home enviornment.
Customer Review: Oh My Goodness, Got through 7 years of worth of shredding!!! Summary: 5 Stars
YAY!!! I received my shredder and was eager to begin shredding all the documents I have accumulated over the last seven years (I'm a pack rat but my resolution is to work on this in 2011). Needless to say that I was blown away by the performance of the shredder, it easily shreds piles of paper at about 12 sheets per pass and junk mail including the envelopes. By the end of the day I had emptied the receptacle about 20 times and was concerned that it wouldn't work as well the next day due to the heavy shredding that I had already done. I was delighted that the following day I was able to finish shredding the remainig documents with no problems at all. I'm very pleased with this purchase, I wish I had bought it sooner. I plan to keep this shredder in the corner of my living area to shred junk mail, confidential documents, etc. whenever I recieve the correspondence in the mail. If you're looking for a cost effective shredder that gets the job done, consider purchasing this one.
Customer Review: Excellent shredder for the price Summary: 5 Stars
Just got this bad boy in the mail yesterday and proceeded to immediately load in 3 years worth of old bills, documents and personal information that was sitting in a big box after my last shredder died. I went through an estimated 1000 pieces of paper before I had to shut it off for fear of burning up the motor. That being said, this shredder works great, is fairly low-noise and gets the job done for a decent price. I'd recommend it for any homeowner who wants to shred a few papers here and there, or credit cards. It works great, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it for a large business (but that's not what it's made for is it?).
Pros:
Easy to get running
Works quickly & smoothly
Doesn't stall that often (over 11 pages definitely will make it shut down)
Cons:
Can heat up if shredding a ton of papers
The basket is a little small, but again, if you're not storing papers up and shredding once a year, it's great.
Customer Review: 2 thumbs up Fellowes W11C Shredder Summary: 5 Stars
First of all i have never owned a shredder. I read review after review trying to find a shredder that would work great at home to just shred bills, unsolicited credit car offers, not real heavy work, but did not want something that constantly got stuck! have only used it for a few days and thus far it is exceeding what I expected. I have yet to have a stoppage!! Easily shreds unopened credit card offers, shreds expired plastic credit cards with ease!! Is it a bit loud??? hard to say, yes it is loud, but not annoyingly loud! I think for the cost, it is an exceptional value! I guess 1 of the negatives is the basket size, wish it was bigger, its only 14" high and 14" wide.
Positives: Price, works great, yet to have a stoppage. Feels like a quality unit
Negatives: Small basket size
so-so: the noise--but I think its acceptable!!
Would I recommend this unit? Yes I would.
Customer Review: pretty much what I was hoping for Summary: 4 Stars
I've only had it for a month or so, but have filled the bin up once, and am halfway to filling it a 2nd time.
It works fine for me. Any regular bills, insurance notifications, or credit card solicitations shred up just fine. Plastic cards also shred up, but if they are in an envelope with more than a couple tri-folded sheets of paper, you have to take
the card out and shred it separate. The noise is about what I expected. Not annoyingly 'loud' really, but not a whisper either. TV watchers nearby might moan a bit.
So an envelope is 2 layers, and each tri-folded sheet inside is 3 layers.
I can shred standard business size envelopes with 3 tri-folded sheets inside with no problem.
But once I get up past 3-4 folded sheets in a letter, it can bog down, especially if
it is wider than a std business size envelope, engaging more of the blades.
