This is my 3rd shredder. My last one I trashed in a year and wanted something better. So far after 1 month, I am happy with this purchase.
Pros:
* It shreds well. Produces small strips about 1 in x 1/4 in.
* Not real noisey. People will know you are shredding, but you won't go deaf. It is quieter than some models I have had.
* The pivoting shredder head makes it easy to check if the basket is full.
Cons:
* The shredding head is heavy. I have had lighter ones, but then again they broke.
* The plastic window on the unit in front of the on/off switch doesn't server a good purpose. It is too opaque to really see if your basket is full.
* The swivel feature, while handy to see in the basket, makes it hard to put it back on the basket. Not so hard that you will curse, just can't slap it down on the basket.
Overall, I am happy with the purchase and hope it lasts a long time.

This is my third shredder, and it's working as well as the other "heavy-duty" models I've owned. The price I paid was very competitive. It's relatively smooth. Not overly noisy. The safety turn-off feature pretty much guarantees anyone with paper-thin fingers won't shred them off. Not super-powerful, but as with any non-industrial shredder (which is practically ALL home shredders), use your common sense. When in doubt, feed fewer sheets. May take a bit longer, but you'll be glad you didn't shear gears or create an annoying jam (haven't experienced either, by the way). And as for people who have complained it doesn't shred papers into a fine-enough confetti, it's true that it may be a stretch to call 2" strips true confetti. But my papers seem to be shredded into small enough pieces to thwart everyone except for the most dedicated ID bandit. And if I really want to throw them off the trail, I split my shreddings between 2 recycling bags.Customer Review: Plastic gears are a problem

This is a great little shredder for the money. I had mine for 8 months before it broke -- truth be told, I was trying to cram way too much stuff in there when it broke. I took off the top and saw that I had sheared off the main gear, which was made of plastic (which makes sense given the price).
This would be a real easy fix -- just swap in a new gear -- but in contacting Fellowes, and in doing a number of Interent searches, replacement gears are not available. Fellowes replaced the shredder because it was still within its one-year warranty, which is great (and Fellowes customer service was great), except that now I have a broken shredder that will wind up in the landfill, when it would be such an easy fix. And that's not so eco-friendly.
Anyway, the short of it is, great personal shredder, but with the caveat that it's made with plastic gears for which Fellowes has no replacement parts available.
Customer Review: Perfect for MAIL, old personal DOCUMENTS - worth the money

I don't need a super high-powered shredder. I get a bunch of mail I think should be shredded each week and occasionally I go through old personal documents and need to discard them. I used to have a hand-held shredder. That was awful. It did the job but I hated it. It was inconvenient and took too long.
This was about $40 when I purchased it here on Amazon. I shred all kinds of stuff with it and probably get a basket full of shreds about every 2-3 weeks. I've never shredded a CD but have shredded a credit card and it worked just fine. I easily shred 5 pieces of paper at once without a catch.
The reverse function is helpful when I do shove too much stuff in there at an angle and it gets wrapped up in the opening.
The heft and weight is great. It's sturdy and strong enough to not tip over. Great value. Would buy this again but so far, it seems like I won't be needing to any time soon.

This shredder is awesome for the price. No jams or anything so far. If you follow the directions, you won't have any problems. I researched shredders at Staples, Office Max, and everywhere. This product was the best value. I kept watching the price, and it dropped in price on Amazon plus it qualifies for the free shipping. By the way, the Free Super Saver Shipping is great. If you live in a major to mid-size city, I live in the Raleigh area. I always receive my shipments almost as fast as I would have received it paying for regular shipping. I ordered this shredder on Friday, and I recieved on Monday using the free super saver shipping. Now, it also depends upon the time of the year. Of course, you will not receive it that fast at Christmas.
The product is great; again, I just use it at home for shredding bills, junk mail, personal credit cards, etc.
