Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Fellowes P-57Cs, 8 Sheet Cross-Cut Shredder 3205701Customer Review: Decent shredder Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this because my old shredder barely shredded one piece of paper. This one is much quieter, a good thing. The safety feature of turning off if a hand gets too near the feeder is great. But it was advertised as a cross-cut shredder and it's doesn't do much cross cutting. It mostly strip cuts and then crumbles the strips. I haven't send a credit card through it yet, I'm not sure it won't break the machine. The shredder comes with one basket, which fills up very quickly. Be careful--when you see white through the plastic lens, empty it right away. Otherwise, it may overfill and you'll get crumbled paper all over your floor.Fellowes 32057 Powershred P-57Cs Shredder
Customer Review: No, not for me Summary: 2 Stars
This shredder was pretty disappointing, it just isn't going to be adequete for heavy shredding usage.
I have major shredding tasks, and need something that allows 3-5 hours of shredding at a time. From this shredder, all I can get is paper jam after paper jam, even with just two sheets at a time. This is clockwork, I can count on it jamming after just two sets of two sheets each time.
I have to reverse it until the motor starts spinning fast enough, and put it back in regular mode again, and I'm finding I'm having to hand pull the shreds every few minutes.
Therefore, I can only recommend it for people that shred the once a day mail, otherwise any sort of heavy shredding needs simply can't be handled by this one.
Customer Review: Highly Rated? Not in my book.. Summary: 2 Stars
This unit was highly rated in it's class(inexpensive). I would hate to try the other ones! Of course for home office use, I can't justify a unit in the $100/$200 range.
Advantages:
1) Does a very good job of shredding the documents.
2) I am trying to think of something else but it hasn't materialized yet.
Disadvantages:
1) This unit is way too loud. You almost need hearing protection.
2) My old shredder had an opening so I could throw in things I didn't want to shred, this one doesn't. Now I keep a wastebasket under my desk, as well as the shredder.
3) No way this unit shreds 8 sheets at a time, 4 at best.
Note: I haven't tested the safety mechanism so I can't comment on it.
Customer Review: Excellent Shredder Summary: 5 Stars
I needed a new shredder after my desktop one wore out. I wanted something sturdier than the one I had before and one that would do more than two sheets of paper at a time. This one is great. It is sturdy and fast and takes multiple papers at once. It even shreds credit cards (an added bonus feature that I didn't even know it had). I didn't even think about how much of a pain cutting up credit cards was until I stuck one in this shredder and in a matter of seconds, it was gone. No muss; no fuss. I recommend this to anyone who has a home/office or anyone who is just worried about identity theft. The basket is large so you don't have to empty if very often and the motor isn't so loud that it annoys you. If you need a shredder, buy this one!
Customer Review: Great Shredder, Great Bargain Summary: 5 Stars

The shredder itself seems really sturdy, the blades are pretty solid and thick unlike some other shredders I've seen that have thin and flimsy blades that bend easily. I don't anticipate these bending anytime soon. The motor seems strong for the most part I stuck a couple of credit cards through to test it and it chewed through them like a champ I couldn't even make it out from the rest of the shredded paper. The bin could have been slightly bigger. It's not the quietest shredder by any means. It has a nice flip up feature so you can empty the basket w/o having to take off the motor (just flip it up). The sensor feature that shuts off the motor when an object gets too close to the blades works like a charm. So far so good!!
