Customer Review: Surprisingly good.
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this little radio as an emergency and camping radio a couple of months ago and let it sit. It is now the a couple of minutes to the Saddam's deadline (20h00EST 19 Mar 03) and I am listening to the BBC news. The state of current events inspired me get it out and put it through its paces with the results being pleasantly surprising. I picked up Madrid and BBC World Service on the short wave among other stations (lots of Spanish broadcasts). In fact, the amount of stations picked up in the 5800-6200Mhz range and recption is pretty good. While the performance isn't the same as my Satellit 400, the sound is pretty good. The reception is excellent on the FM band as well.

I like this radio's reception and perfomrance better than the Coleman generator radio. Also, the size is much more convenient than the Coleman radio.

I wish it were easier to find the AC adapter.

Customer Review: Good Addition to Your Emergency Kit
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a small, lightweight crank radio (with flashlight). It is constructed of plastic, but it is relatively sturdy for something made our of plastic. A few minutes of cranking permits you to listen to the radio sans battery. The flashlight feature is nice, but don't forgo keeping a 'real' flashlight in your emergency kit.
The radio picks up your local AM and FM stations about as well as a typical low-end transistor radio. It does support some shortwave bands, but don't expect to be picking up Radio Johannesburg on a regular basis (unless you are reading this review in South Africa). Has the option of running on batteries if you are too lazy to crank.
We keep it in our emergency kit and consider it to be a valuable resource. However, I am sure when the day of critical need arises we will wish we had crank internet instead.

Customer Review: Avoid this cheesy, flimsy dog
Summary: 1 Stars

On a catalog page the price might seem right, but this is NOT a radio or flashlight you would want to count on in an emergency. Sensitivity is low, but not low enough to make up for the poor selectivity and fiddly, imprecise tuning. This thing is incredibly poorly made, with loose wiggly knobs, switches that are hard to operate, and a magneto crank that feels like it's about to break right off. A bad deal at half the price. Far better AM/FM/weather channel sets are available for the same price or less. If you absolutely must have shortwave, don't throw good money away on this overpriced toy; for just a bit more you'll find outstanding choices like the Sony ICF SW35. If low price is critical, get the cheapest AM/FM pocket radio you can find, pick up a cheap flashlight, and every few months treat yourself to a couple of new batteries.

Customer Review: Good little radio - nice little generator, too.
Summary: 5 Stars

Hurricane season here in South Florida was a tad awesome this year - and with that reality check, my hurricane grab-bag has included as many multi-power source units as possible. This little radio made the list with it's built-in generator.

When I recieved it, I tried out the generator immediately. Following instructions, I cranked for 3 minutes - no problem there, the equipment isn't pissed-off-gorilla proof, but it isn't fragile, either. After my crank time, I flipped the switch, and the radio worked immediately. THEN I pulled out he antenna. Great reception.

What more could I ask for? Radio works, generator works, it also takes batteries. It has a hole for an AC adaptor - however, mine did not come with one... but while I have this generator, who cares? Radio works a long time for 3 minutes of cranking.
