Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Escort Passport 9500i Radar and Laser DetectorCustomer Review: A Big Ripoff! Summary: 1 Stars
Bought this item, and it came with three months of free downloads. These downloads will gave you the latest info. on radar traps, traffic light cameras, etc.
However, after spending $500 on the detector, Escort is too cheap to provide one with a $10 USB cord or a $10 12-volt adapter to download the updates they charge you for after the 3 month trial. With Shipping & handling the accessory items will run you about $40 so you can give Escort more money to download their updates which of course will cost you even more money.
Unlike GPS manufacturers which give you free updates, Escort wants to charge you for them. In addition, Escort claims a standard USB cable will work and a standard 12V adapter will work as well. Complete lies, they make them completely non-standard so you will have to buy the accessories from them.
If you are looking for a much lighter wallet this is the radar for you. Otherwise stick with the V1.
Customer Review: Extremely reliable performance. Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the Escort Passport 9500i for my husband for Christmas. He had had the prior model for about a year and we both had been very happy with its performance. However, as my husband loves the latest and greatest gadgets (and I needed something to purchase him for Christmas), I decided to upgrade him to the new Escort Passport 9500i. We have been using it for about three weeks now and are very pleased with its new features. The built-in GPS allows you to program in false alerts, eliminating those annoying false alarms. Plus, you can program in speed traps and other GPS-related locations to warn you well advance when they are coming up. The new "voice" alert is also very pleasing to the ear. Overall, the new features allowed by the GPS programming have made this purchase worthwhile when you're on the road a lot and I would recommend spending the few extra $$ for such a reliable product!
Customer Review: Great unit! Use it Daily! Summary: 5 Stars
This is an awesome unit. has already paid for itself in saving my butt. the false signal blocking is great.. it takes some time to learn your area.. three times with same freq at same location and it learns its a false signal. At first was annoying till it learned these around my area.
The ability to mark speedtraps is great.. it reminds you of these areas so if you forget about them.. you know. And when you update the updates.. it registers your places for others.
To those that get a ticket with laser.. well no unit gives you a lot of notice on those signals... its a very instant on thing. And usually if its signalling laser..its too late anyway.
Love the unit..best radar dectector i have ever had! Have had a Dell before and a 7500 from Escort.
Customer Review: Quite simply the best radar detector out there Summary: 5 Stars
This is an amazing device. Everyone knows the protection you get from owning a Passport radar detector, but let's face it, it can also be a pain in the rear around town. There are WAY too many false alarms.
Well, this can virtually eleminate them. Whenever you encounter what you know if a false alarm (be sure!) you can program the unit to know this signal in this location is a false alarm (total of 3 keystrokes, not hard). You will never again get that alarm in that spot. Amazing.
It is also "smart" and knows how fast you are going, auto adjusting the sensativity on the unit, again reducing false alarms.
If you drive much and want to avoid "revenue generation" tickets, this is a virtual must have purchase.
Customer Review: HORRIBLE. Save your money. Summary: 1 Stars
Waste of money and time. All the positive reviews have to be employees. This radar detector is the worst thing I have ever bought. I have had it two weeks now (unfortunately not returnable). There are soooo many false alerts, it will drive you crazy! You don't get 5 minutes of peace and quiet. Who wants a radar detector that picks up EVERY signal in the vacinity. And you can't block false alerts, after a point it just tells the device to 'mute'. then it comes back in 3 minutes, until you unplug it. I think it was invented and sold by the police dept, because there are so many false signals you just end up ignoring it, so you will never know which one was in your path. Save your money, time and peace of mind.
