Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Energizer NH15BP-4 Rechargeable AA Battery 4 Pack

Customer Review: Great batteries, better than alkaline will ever be
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought these batteries because the Sony Cybershot digital camera I have had a hard time accepting alkaline batteries. Come to find out, the digital camera is only compatable with NiMH batteries. I bought these rechargeable batteries and couldn't be happier. It takes a few hours for them to fully charge, but otherwise they're great. They don't run out all the time like alkaline batteries, and even if they do run out, you don't need to waste money buying another pack of AA batteries for $2. Now that doesn't sound like much, but after awhile, it adds up, and rechargeable batteries are cheaper. Also, they seem to last about 10x longer (in my perspective) than AA alkaline batteries do (though some rechargeable batteries aren't that powerful). And now, I can take pictures with my camera, and load them into my computer, or do whatever (some alkaline batteries were so weak that my camera wouldn't even take a picture)! Highly recommended; go get a pair!

NOTE: The picture of the product is incorrect. It's actually 2500 mAh, which is a big bargain.

Customer Review: They can't hold a charge. Try Duracell instead?
Summary: 2 Stars

I have about two dozen NiMH rechargeables I use for various electronics devices, including three Nikon flash heads and a GPS. My Energizer 2300mAh and 2500mAh (marked NH-15AA) are much less reliable than my Duracell 2050 mAh. They discharge soon after recharging, and at least 20% are markedly worse than the others; almost one quarter of them are duds and I eventually discard them.

Note that I last bought these a year ago, and they are marked NH-15AA. Maybe Energizer has improved them, or they might simply be rebranded. However, the packaging looks identical.

I'd recommend Duracell instead.

I keep a battery meter next to my MAHA charger, and often find that one of the four batteries I remove from my device is significantly weaker than the other three. When this happens, I write a note on the side of the battery. After three strikes, I throw that battery away. I have discarded and recycled at least five Energizers, and can't recall throwing away a single Duracell.

Customer Review: Essential If You Have High Drain Devices!
Summary: 5 Stars

These batteries are a amazing purchase. I use my digital camera for my business that takes 4 AA batteries. The camera would use regular batteries in about an hour. So I was buying 4.99 packs of batteries EVERY day (to get ONE hour of use out of them)before purchasing the Rechargeables and a charger.

Sure, it seems like a lot of money at first but think about it this way. In A month of using my camera I would have spent well over $150 on old style batteries. Or I could spend the 25-30 for the charger and use these batteries.

The batteries have lasted over a year now and still charging and going. I have read that some people have issues with how long they stay charged. I however don't have this problem. I have only purchased one set, although two sets might be a valid investment so you can have one set charging while you use the other.

Either way spending the few extra dollars now on rechargeables will in the end be worth it. In this hi-tech, hi-dollar world, more things should be THIS reliable.

Customer Review: Subject to catastrophic failure
Summary: 2 Stars

Currently I have five of these cells from the original dozen that I purchased. The failure mode for the seven discarded units has been the same in each case - complete and sudden failure of terminal voltage. Loading a piece of equipment with a complement of freshly charged Energizer NH15BP cells is no guarantee that the device will work an hour later when needed. DO NOT LEAVE HOME WITHOUT A SPARE SET OF THESE CELLS IN YOUR POCKET!
In the approximately the same period that has seen seven out of 12 Energizer failures, the count has been zero for eight for Sony cells and one out of eight for Kodak units. This, in spite of the fact that the Energizer cells have increasingly been relegated to "spares" and haven't actually seen much real use in the last year or two.
The Energizer cells were NOT from a single batch but were purchased four at a time over several months and even show some design differences in sealant colors etc. among the batches. Definitely off my buy list.

Customer Review: Great Price, Good Quality
Summary: 4 Stars

I have bought Energizer Rechargeables before, and they were only 2100mAh, so these are a bit to step up from. They lasted for about two years, compared to my old set of 1800mAh duracells that I switched from to these.
I have only recharged these once in the two weeks I have had them, so I am pretty happy with them. I did top them off last night, as I cannot stand having a few percent gone when I use my flashlight.
Walgreens had a sale on these (meaning they couldn't get rid of them) and they were made in Japan, so I picked them up for $8 a pack (4 batts a pack). I also picked up AAA rechargeables to use in my Fenix flashlight, and those work well also. They say "ACCU" on the batteries themselves, and have oddly dark green tops on them.
I have taken about 50 pictures total on these, and have ran my GPS for about an hour on them. They seem to have good quality in keeping charge, so I don't know why NLee found them to have a "shockingly high self discharge"!
