Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Insten Universal World Wide Travel Charger Adapter Plug, White - by eForCityCustomer Review: I guess "universal" doesn't include South Korea Summary: 3 Stars
I bought several of these for my trip to South Korea, where they have European-style "Europlug" or "Schuko" power outlets, which are recessed inside a round hole. Unfortunately, the prongs labeled "Europe" on this adapter are too short to reach far enough into these outlets to hold the adapter in place. To be clear, the prongs DO extend far enough to conduct electricity, but they DO NOT extend far enough to stay plugged in on their own. I stayed in seven different hotels during my trip, and every time, I had to prop my suitcase up against the adapter to pin it against the wall outlet. Kind of annoying. So, it does what it's supposed to do, but it might take some jury-rigging on your part.
Customer Review: not good at all! Summary: 1 Stars
I have used this product in 4 countries and I have to say that I am very disappointed overall. The main problem is that the middle one of the three prongs is made of plastic that you fold away and retract as needed. This plastic prong never sits tightly into a wall socket. I had to repeatedly pull out, adjust, shift around the adapter, all ever so gently, before getting a stable electricity connection. One time I woke up in the morning to discover that my phone had not charged mainly because the adapter never made an electrical connection when I connected it the night before. Now, I will go for all-metal 3-prong such "Fused universal plug adapter" or simply "multi-adapter."
Customer Review: Worked Like a Dream Summary: 5 Stars
I used this converter in Germany with devices designed to handle 120v/240v ac - my curling iron, computer, and cell phone charger. My devices were unscathed and continue to work normally. I read in other reviews how the converter sometimes didn't fit into the socket. My experience was that not all the socets were the same diameter (their sockets are round and deep instead of flat with the wall). I plugged it into one socket and indeed it kept falling out, but then I just tried the socket right below it and it stayed just fine. I don't think it's the fault of the device, rather just that the standardization of the outlets may not be as precise as we are accustomed.
Customer Review: Amazing for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I paid 1 dollar for this product and I ordered two even though I needed only one at the moment. Now I think I should have ordered more to give away to friends who are traveling. I used it Europe and it worked great. I had to buy it b/c I bought a digital photo frame as a present for my parents and just realized later that the plug will not match. Then I drove around town and checked out all the `cheap` stores to buy one of these adapters. The cheapest one was like 9 dollars in Walmart and most others started at 14 dollars and were even a lot more bulky than this one. My mom is using this adapter continuously for 3 months now and she never had any problem with it.
Customer Review: Works Well In Paris Summary: 5 Stars
My wife and I used two of these in Paris last week, and they worked fine. We charged an iPhone and camera batteries for much of the week. They're small and light, and I imagine they'd be even more useful if you traveled all over the world in addition to Europe.
To reiterate what some others have said here, this is an adapter, not a converter. If you're using something in Europe that has a high watt rating, like a curling iron or a hair dryer, you NEED a voltage converter. I strongly recommend this one: STEREN 910-010 Dual Voltage foreign Converter Kit
