Customer Review: This is all you need on devices rated for 110-240V AC

This is all you need for any one device to the extent that it is rated for universal voltage of 100-240V AC.
Most existing laptops and other electronics are this way these days but some older devices may come with a 110/240V switch so make sure that you check before you plug your device into the foreign outlet, especially if you do it into the outlet of 'higher' voltage.
On this adapter's features:
- Works as a plug converter on both sides, meaning that you can plug in either a US, Euro or South American device on one end and the outlet you plug it into can be either of the above.
- Supports both 2-prong and 3-prong US plugs.
- It is NOT a voltage converter. If your device is not rated for 240V chances are it WILL be destroyed so be careful.
- Amazingly, for the price, it even offers some surge protection.
Customer Review: Mine did not work on a trip to the UK

I purchased the adapter to use on a trip to the UK with my cell phone, laptop, and camera battery chargers and a travel hair straightener - all dual voltage and so not requiring voltage converters, but only plug adapters. This plug adapter would not provide power to any of the four items, however. I had brought 3 other plug adapters with me, and tested each item with other adapters and they all worked, so I know it was a problem with this adapter. I am unsure whether the adapter is completely defective, or only the UK plug of the adapter. It would have been a major problem had I been relying on this adapter without bringing other ones. I was very surprised since the item had 7 positive reviews, so perhaps this was only an isolated incident; still, I would encourage you not to rely only on this adapter and to bring a back-up if you are going to buy it.Customer Review: Need to be aware of the lack of grounding

I bought one of these adapters for a business trip to Israel with a layover in Germany. Both sites used the European plugin with the pull out two pronged connector so this review only pertains to that configuration. Israel didn't have a problem but in Germany, I noticed my HP laptop had a weird vibration. My German friend looked at it and noticed there was no grounding on the adapter and when he switched the adapter to a different one that had grounding, the vibration went away. Anyways, the lack of grounding could explain why my laptop also would wake up out of sleep mode with no human intervention.
Oh and I would agree with other reviewers, the adapter sometimes doesn't fit well in some sockets, causing it to fall out. I had to prop something against it to hold it in for some situations. This was in both Israel and Germany.
Customer Review: A little bit tricky but it works

As other reviewers mentioned, it is a little tricky to make this adapter work. I visited London in Oct 2010. The first hotel I stayed had, to my surprise, US-type wall plugs, so I didn't need to use the adapter for my laptop.
The second one, which was much less luxury, didn't have US-type plugs, so I used this adapter. At first, the small green indicator didn't come on, which means the power doesn't go through. I thought the connection was not right and moved the adapter, pulling a little or pushing toward the wall etc. Then, the indicator turned on.
It seems you have to pull it away from the wall just a little bit. Once you figured out this adjustment, the adapter works fine. It doesn't do anything excellent but that's what this adapter is supposed to be, right? Just working fine is what I expect.

This thing does what so many gizmos these days do not: it just does exactly what it is supposed to do.
I used this on a recent trip where I was in 5 different cities (Delhi, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong and Sydney) in 12 days. It worked great in every single one of those. Took some abuse, as well, as both I, and a curious airport security official, managed to drop it onto uncarpeted floor from roughly desk height. That's where the recessed prongs on the adapter were an advantage; with nothing sticking out, there was no damage to the unit either time, and it worked just fine.
This was well worth the money, and saved room when compared to the bag of adapters I used to carry when headed overseas. I would definitely buy this again.
