Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of HDMI M / M Cable, 50 FT / 15 M

Customer Review: Does not work on 1080P projector, leaves green noise!
Summary: 2 Stars

This cable was a gamble, and I paid the price of installing it all throughout my ceiling and wall from an electrician to only realize that when I got my projector I hooked it up and it had horrible green noise all over the screen, which I quickly realized that HDMI cable quality DOES matter. I was duped by those who were saying that we were duped by Monster cable prices. Sure, you can find cables that don't cost 200 bucks (found a SIIG 35ft at Frys for $39 that worked), but after hours or research on HDMI cables, I realized that any cable 6 feet and under is going to do just fine, however as the cable gets longer the signal gets weaker as it bounces off of the copper (digital signal) .. and if the cable isn't built well enough to be able to push the signal fast enough, it leaves noise and speckles all over the screen cause it can't keep up. So make sure you always buy a cable that says it can do 1080P and HIGHER, not just 1080p, especially a cheap one because most likely it will do the 1080P, but be horrible quality. I was able to even hook a second hdmi cable together with my SIIG $40 cable and it still worked (had to be a monster 6 ft, not another cheap 6ft because it needed that extra power to get to my projector as I tested both and the cheap one had green noise, but the monster 6ft connected didn't). So, if you want non noisy 1080P, DON'T buy this, but if you just need 1080i, it might just work for you. It's possible that I just got a bad cable, but doubt it as my research suggests. Anything over 33 ft I heard too has significant drop, so be careful for longer cords, and you might just have to plunk down some change for a Monster if you really need 50 ft.

Customer Review: No degradation at all - Pro football junkies best friend
Summary: 5 Stars

I have this hooked up to a second DirecTV DVR in the kitchen that has a small HDTV that isn't much fun to watch football on. I ran the cable down into the basement then across the ceiling of the basement and back up into my living room. I told the wife I wouldn't run any more cables. I use it to watch football games in my living room on my new Samsung 58" plasma when there are 4 games on at the same time and I need 2 DVRs to record them simultaneously. Playback quality is excellent. Now I can take full advantage of my NFL Sunday ticket (I even have 2 other HD DVRs in the bedrooms so I can record 8 games in HD simultaneously - sick!)....and my wife sees me more than ever on Sundays. With DVRs, I control when I watch and now I'm free to do whatever I want on Sundays (which is pretty much watch football and I don't even have a fantasy team). Maybe I need to see a doctor.

Customer Review: Nice thick cable with works well.
Summary: 5 Stars

I was very impressed when I opened the box and saw this cable. I was expecting what I have seen normal hdmi cables to be but this is super thick and well made. Not sure how they can sell it so cheap when in the store this exact cable is 5x as much but its a deal and I am about to order a second one.

I hooked it up to my HD TiVo in the living room with an hdmi splitter and connected the other end in the bedroom and the picture is stellar. I really mean no different than if it were connected with a 6' cable in my living room.

I think some here with problems need to take into consideration "the device" they are connecting this to. A signal traveling 50' with a cord like this is considered a VERY long run and some devices might need an amplifier of some sort no matter how well made the cable is.

Customer Review: Nice cheap cable and now I know why.
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this cable to run from my new media closet to a panel behind the TV. It was cheap and amazon prime would get it hear faster than my normal goto source for cables Monoprice.

When the cable goes directly from the sources (360 and DVD player) to the TV it works great and I didn't notice any issues. Once I got everything setup and ran the cable to the wall panel and from the wall panels to the TV and sources, the signal is pretty much unusable at 1080p. Green bands and pixels everywhere. The total length of all the cables is ~62 feet so it's not particually the cables fault. It's possible my (as of yet unbought) surround reciever will fix this issue if not I'll end up swapping it out for shorter, better-made cable.

Customer Review: Does not work for 1080p
Summary: 3 Stars

Pros: cheap price, long length, works up to 1080i

Cons: does not work with 1080p

I am using this cable to connect my computer to a 47" LCD. It works perfectly up to 1080i. With 1080p (both 50 and 60 Hz), there is much extra green and some blue band distortion, indicating the cable cannot deliver the bandwidth necessary for these resolutions.

For my use, since I'm not willing to pay for a more expensive cable at this time, I will be using 1080i. In the future, I'll be upgrading the cable to one that can do 1080p 60Hz.

If all you need a long cable up to 1080i, this cable is an excellent deal. If you need 1080p, this cable will not be usable.
