One of the great things about buying "stuff" at Amazon is the product reviews. Before I buy something, I always look at the overall ratings and then skip the good reviews and just read the bad ones to make my decision. That's my process of buying "stuff" at Amazon and it always works for me. So when I wanted to buy extra batteries for my Cannon camera and I've found this '3 PACK Lithium-ion NB-4L NB4L Battery For Canon Camera' and i started reading this "Bait and Switch" review that was shown as "The most helpful critical review". The review claims that the product image shown is a battery with 1400 mAh, and the buyer is sent 768 mAh batteries instead. I also saw another review where the buyer is sent a 900 mAh battery instead of 1400.
I've looked the product image, which says 1400 mAh at that time and then I thought even if these batteries are 768 mAh or 900 mAh, they are still is a much better deal than the original batteries by Cannon, which are 760 mAh and priced around $20. So, I ordered them despite those negative reviews. When I received the order, I've realized that they were all 1400 mAh, as advertised, which was a good surprise. Therefore, I felt like I am obligated to write something about it.
I don't think the person who wrote "Bait and Switch" comment has fabricated that review. That's probably what has happened to him/her. Maybe, the seller sent the wrong item or they realized their mistake and corrected it in the future, I don't know. What I do know is I got what I ordered and I've been using them for a while now and they works just great. The battery life is longer as expected with 1400 mAh versus the original.
By the time I was writing the review (on Nov 19th, 2010), the product image says 900 mAh. So, I don't know what is going on with this product's listing. Therefore, I am giving 5 stars for this product's attributes in battery life and excellent product categories, but I am giving 4 stars overall for the incorrect product images with the product listing.
