Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Ecamm Network iMage USB Webcam for Mac and WindowsCustomer Review: Does what it says on the tin Summary: 3 Stars
This camera does exactly what it claims to do: work on Macintosh MacOS X systems without additional drivers. Works with Skype on MacOS X. This is not a high end product. The frame rate is about 15 fps, but the image is clear. The styling is not as fancy as some other webcams on the market, but does indeed mount in a simple fashion to the top of the laptop screen. Mechanical tilt and pan are not available. There is no zoom. This is just a simple webcam that does exactly what it claims to do.
Includes a velvet carrying bag.
Customer Review: Plug it in. It works. No Fuss, no muss. Summary: 4 Stars
I got one of these about four months ago and I am happy with it. The installation is a breeze and the mounting system is very flexible. It sits atop my old 12" PB G4 Mac easily and the magnetic base sticks to the top of my old pre-Isight G5 iMac.
No, it isn't the last word in video quality by any means, but it's much better than the video I've seen from cheapo vid cams on the PC side.
Pros: Well made, flexible mounting options. Oh yeah..it works!
Cons: Video quality OK, no microphone
Customer Review: Works as described Summary: 4 Stars
The iMage cam worked on each Mac we tried it on, (none with built in cams) with no hitches. Plugged in, worked. Quality is comparable to the iSight, size is very small and versitile. The drawback would be the magnetic base, which dosnt stick to any mac I have. Including a small versatile add-on clip would be great. It does have a tripod mounting screw, but that is of limited value when mobile. The best added feature would be a little legged laptop lid resting or clip on base.
Customer Review: Great customer service! Summary: 5 Stars
The web-cam was not compatible with my Mac OS X (version 10.3.9) and I thought I had to purchase the newer software (which cost $150), but the customer service people for the web-cam (their detail was on included in the box) guided me through a free website that offered the type of software I needed to get the web-cam working. They must have responded to 5 e-mails of mine within an hour. It was like talking to a friend! The web-cam is great, very good quality!
Customer Review: Good webcam for old computer Summary: 5 Stars
l bought this webcam to use with my old Mac G4 Powerbook. It works great right out of the box, just plug it in and go. I bought it to use with Skype when a friend moved abroad. I did have to tell my Skype account to look for the camera, but this took about 30 seconds. So far I've only used it once. It worked great, no problems, good picture quality (at least according to my friend on the other end).
