Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Xtreme TB320DKO 320-Disc CD/DVD CaseCustomer Review: It's a good high capacity case, no smell, etc Summary: 5 Stars
I just bought this (November 2005), and there is no "smell" or oily film that the cover extrudes. If you do put your nose up to it and smell it, it smells like.... new vinyl/plastics! Duh of course! Like all new - anything that's plastic! But it's not like this smell is permeating the room if you walk in it. You *can't* smell it when you walk in a non-ventilated room. It's totally fine. The cover is also not oily or anything! The zipper is thick and heavy, the stitching is thick and tough. The other materials are high quality, and it looks like it's going to last. For this price, it's a killer deal too. Some of these reviewers... I don't know, it looks like that have another product. I would consider getting another one of these, defiantly for this price. If I had that many CDs. I use several other CD containers (Romdex, etc) and this is defiantly the biggest bang for the buck, and the easiest to see. I only wish it has a nice place to put a sheet of paper for an index, but that's a tiny issue, aka non-issue.
UPDATE: the plastic inlay-binder part kind of broke about 1 year later, but it's supporting a lot of weight.
Customer Review: Funny Smell but Excellent Case! Summary: 5 Stars
This case does smell funny for a while but the smell eventually goes off. Its not that Xtreme after 2-3 weeks!
In comparison with CaseLogic, I feel that the leather CaseLogic case is more durable. I am very careful with my Xtreme case since I'm a little scared that I may rip the zipper off as its more delicate than CaseLogic.
Now the goods! It has the full capacity of 320 discs unlike some other user who mentioned it only had 256 something. If you don't have all the sheets that add upto 320 discs capacity, you have received a defective piece.
This case has plenty of space in each slot/sleeve that you can acutally put 2 discs in one cd sleeve. I have a CaseLogic cd case but it only fits in one disc per sleeve. There is absolutely no way I could fit 2 cds in one sleeve in my CaseLogic.
But Xtreme has solved my problem since I have some software cd's like disc 1 and disc 2 and would like to keep it in one sleeve instead of occupying two.
I have now switched from CaseLogic to Xtreme!
Customer Review: Very pleased, ordered additional Summary: 5 Stars
I wouldn't call myself a CD Binder expert, but I purchased this at $10 after rebate and I feel it is a very good deal. I believe you can get this now for $8 after rebate and get a 128 CD Binder for free if you look for the coupon.
I've only had the binder for a month and haven't put it through any stress testing yet. It's made in China, but it seems fairly sturdy. The handle is connected to cover by some stitching and has two plastic bolts that go through the cover and attach to the binding (a sheet of thin plastic that holds all the CD/DVD pages). I am not an expert, but I'm expecting it to last a long time with normal usage.
It contains 40 pages which hold 4 on each side, so it can hold 320 CD/DVDs as advertised. Mine is at about 1/3 full right now, and at full capacity, the binder should still be able to zip up (a problem I've had with other binders). I've never had a 320 binder full before, but I'm expecting it to be crazy heavy.
Customer Review: Do Research First Summary: 2 Stars
My Take: I bought this massive media wallet because it was one of the least expensive ones with a capacity of 320. However, after using it I have to say that there are a few reasons that it is priced significantly less. The plastic interior "shell" tends to come out when opened. This could possibly be attributed to the sheer size of the binder. However, my primary complaint is that the wallet zipper is subpar. For this, there is no excuse. Namely, I encounter alot of resistance when I zip and unzip. This lousy feature made the difference between a bargain and a rip off. On the upside it does have a durable plastic cover, but this less functional apsect is overshadowed by a con like a flawed zipper, which is used constantly.
My Advice: Think twice before purchasing this binder and remember that money isn't the only factor.
Customer Review: Good Case Summary: 4 Stars
This CD Wallet is nice, not great but good..
It has a slight odor to it, I have had mine for about a month and a half now, and it still smells slightly. When I first got it and opened the plastic bag it came in I could tell the wallet smelled bad, but it faded over time.
The zipper is plastic, and should hold up. It would be nice if it was metal, but you see zippers like this on cheap backpacks too. Unless you are going to be throwing this around, or carrying it by its zipper, it should be adequate
PROS: holds 320 CD's (40 pages, each holds 8 CD's), Sturdy handle on side, Looks good, saves tons of space
CONS: no interchangeable pages, zipper may be a problem later, slight odor to it
Overall: I would recommend this for friends, until something better comes along ( would like a better zipper )
