What can I say, I was a bit skeptical due to it's low price, but it worked. I bought two of them.
I am running Win XP, Win 7, and Ubuntu on my computers, and also a Linux based Synology DiskStation NAS - and these little adapters worked in all of my devices. In addition to SD and SDHC cards, they also worked with my micro SD cards with adapter. I use SD cards mostly for photography, so I have some higher speed cards in my card stock. They all worked.
I purchased these primarly for my Synology NAS; with that unit, there is a front-port USB that has an associated switch that dumps whatever is connected to the USB port to a folder on the NAS I designate.
So when I return from taking digital photos with my cameras, I simply put the SD card in the USB card reader, then plug it into the NAS, and dump the photos directly to the NAS for archiving.
Easy, easy, easy.
