Customer Review: Beltronics Radar Detector Direct Hook-up

I purchased this Escort power cord for a Beltronics V955 Radar Detector to be placed on the visor of a Honda CR-V as opposed to the windshield so it remains out of sight. Escort/Beltronics are the same company and share many accessories although it is not well known. One end of the cord plugs into the unit while the other end is split into 2 connectors. One is a grounding wire with a round, open hole connector on the end while the other is a push in connector for the fuse box although I don't know how you connect it. The old way of doing it would be to take the connector off and strip the end of the wire, then stick it into a fuse slot and shove the fuse into it but it is a challenge working under the dash. What I did was cut it off and connected it to an ATC Add-a-fuse Bussmann BP/HHH ATM Add-A-Fuse so I could just plug it into an existing fuse slot cleanly. The cord was a little short to run hidden along the pillar and under the dash so I also had to extend it. I highly recommend the use of ATC or ATM Add-a-fuse. These are extensions that plug into an occupied or vacant fuse slot and turns it into two circuits. They includes an output wire for the added circuit with a butt connector on the end to attach to the power cord for your unit. They can be purchase here on Amazon or any automotive supply store inexpensively, about $7.00 This direct power cord hook-up makes for a clean installation with no exposed wiring.
